Are they any good anyway? I'm thinking that a flea like that can't do anything but tickle that elite Anaconda attacking my trade ship, which has survived very well to this day without some npc pilot taking half of my profits. Sure, the npc rats have learned to dodge the mines, but I can still run without any problem.

Not much in this patch for me it seems.. Fighters do sound pretty much useless to me, passenger missions are too much like regular "haul X to Y and we'll pay you Z" -missions.


They might be tiny gnats, but they punch like an extra set of class 3 hardpoints. Or a vulture (the fixed beams slf's are rated at 42 dps)
The pilots themselves however are a rather useless until they hit expert, ut hiring an expert is fecking pricy so you have to level them and thus, keep them on pay roll.

One more fighter / pilot question:

If I fit a ship with a fighter and an npc pilot, does that pilot still take their cut of the income when I change into another ship so that the ship with fighter and the pilot stay at some random station ?
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

Yup, they take a cut off everything, even if your in a ship which can't have fighter bays.

That's why I dumped the money grabbing bastards......

Besides any Cmdr worth their salt should not need hired help to circumnavigate their inadequacies......

Couldn't sleep so I got out of bed thinking I'd refit my asp for the trip to Maia for meta-alloys (to finally start on unlocking Felicity). Head out tomorrow. But after I was done refitting, I was still not sleep. So screw it, I started making the jumps. No problems until I actually got to Maia. That's when Jerry Garcia decided I needed interdicted. I'm still chuckling about that. Jerry Garcia....

Got to Obsidian Orbital and docked up for the night. Still not all that sleepy, either... Oh well.

More trading, I reached my minimal credits target to upgrade my trade fitted Anaconda to a basic combat model. Once I have that I'll drop by Felicity and the Dweller to start modding some internals. Once that's done, I'll focus on modding the Fer-de-Lance, Python and Asp-Explorer and raising more funding to finish the Anaconda to full A-spec.

The more I work with the fighters, the more I like 'em! :D

I was winged up with another Vette pilot yesterday, and we both jumped into the fighters. We left our co-pilots on 'hold' in the Vettes so that they wouldn't assist us, and went around the CNB tearing up NPC's. The maneuverability of the Imp fighter is amazing, and it was a total blast in my Vive tracking behind wanted Vipers, Cobras, etc. We took on some larger ships as well, getting a sweet conda kill and working over some pythons. Sure, that would have been a 5 second battle if we were both in our Vettes, but with both of us in the fighters it felt like a David Vs Goliath battle. And.... fighers in VR is freaking amazing! :shock:

As for the NPC pilot's skill, I hired mine as harmless. She's currently ranked expert and closing in on master. She does a great job at killing medium size ships on her own and is certainly an asset in the battle. It's VERY helpful when confronting a wing of NPC's in RES or CNB, and sending your fighter to attack one target while you attack another. :evil:
