Request for Solo Traders in Open

Oh God, I opened the Frontier forums. I think I have the Turbo-Cancer now.

Clear as day they have a vocal minority there because they are hoping to get the most influence by making the most noise. Sometimes I fear it works.

Until the day that pirates/murderers are spending more time running from a genuinely threatening security force and relentless bounty hunters who actually have the tools to track them than actually assaulting other players, any discussion about getting people into open is just silly. They should have AT LEAST as much hassle from the game as someone trying to smuggle out of Robigo.

Why. What are the benefits for the traders? A new ship minus your cargo and a few million credits and X amount of hours wasted to an mlg git gud elite pvper. Or Jack Sparrow wannabes being pirates "gimme your stuff cos I haz gunzzz"

Why dont the PVP people set up a PVP dog eat dog no rules private group. If PVE and Mobius can get 23.000 members Im sure all those "thousands" of Open PVP'ers could do the same.

If the game was open only mode. I would never have brought it in the first place.
There's 3 modes to play how you choose, Not what somebody else thinks is better.

Play in whatever mode you want and leave it that way !

If these guys have so much faith in their play style, they should go off and Kickstart their own game. And if it is as wonderful and compelling as they say it is, they should have no trouble putting the other space games out of business.

Couldn't agree more to Loriath's post.
Now it seems the people who gave others a bad experience are asking these same others to come back and saying that they'll be good. Though they keep claiming that they were not the ones who gave others the bad experience.

I'm not against PvP. I've had my share of fun times in PvP in other games. But I used to PvP either in a duel or in capture and hold for the team type scenarios. Never really understood this pirate type mentality (have nothing against it if that what someone has fun doing it), nor really understood the griefer mentality (going out of your way to spoil someone else's fun cause it gives you a feeling of power.)

In the end, I suppose there's a pirate saying that seems apt "make your bones and lay with them" (I think that's how it goes.)

I think that's what they're complaining about now. Open has become a dog eat dog PvP world. What they want is to add some sheep into the mix for their enjoyment. Cause obviously going up against a trader prepared for PvP (I.e. With escorts) is not what they seem to be asking for.

And according to one OP, what the Traders get out of it is excitement and RP entertainment, as if being intradicted by NPC pirates was not enough.

Frontier should take notice! (Do they? Looking at the the group management in 2.1 beta I am not sure. (Nothing has changed, just FYI))

These guys should have never left EVE. But you're right, they want more n00bs to gank. Tough noogies for them.

Don't blame the players entirely. The devs did a frak all horrible job at selling their product. I had no idea for years that the game was even open to private servers, or that you could do ANYTHING besides freakin' combat. Hardcore tradewhores like me would have been an alpha backer otherwise. Frontier dropped the ball majorly.. Saying something like "Play your way" or some such or even pushing more than the freakin' combat would have sold more copies.. If I hadn't heard of ElitePVE, I'd likely have never bought the game to start with.

When my brother 1st pointed out this game to me during Kickstarter, I took one look at it and went "pff... Another EVE, PvP game", then went back waiting for SC to finish. It was after the game was launched and I read up on Elite again, after getting bored with SC alpha, that I found out about solo mode. That's when I decided to buy the game. First flight as a Pilots Federation commander was in Open. Thought if I was going to get ganked might as well be at the beginning. Nothing happened. Switched to solo for awhile, then went into Open a couple of more times just for a bit. Then someone told me about Mobius.
And because of Mobius, I ended up shelling out more money for a non-sub based game than I ever did before. And didn't regret a single cent.

Now you got a bunch of people wanting their playstyle to be the be all to end all. Or at least that's what they claim (and initially I fell for it) but on closer inspection you get a feeling that something is amiss under all those pretty words.
Then you have another bunch who feel as if their playstyle entitles them to more rewards because they have a "harder life" (seriously WTF?). Which to be honest I realise I don't really give a feck about as long as it does not affect my game play. Reward them with larger payouts, but don't change the cost of equipment or ships, no problem.
But give them more influence on the BGS, problems, as I feel playing the BGS is more a PvE thing. Same goes for PP unless PP has some PvP only type thing (e.g. Capture and hold the flag CZs).

Oh well. Back to looking for Raxxal.

This group is very nice for people who don't like PvP.

We are doing a good job at taking away their targets

I'll probably swith to No Mans Sky once its out and the current requirements on steam turn out to be true though.
E:D isn't really fun on my Laptop. Can't even really drive around in an SRV because of major lags.^{(even though flying in space and docking on stations is just fine)}
