Python with pitiful results in Aerial. I changed loadout to all pulse, somewhat better but still struggling.
Switch all guns to Burst Lasers and fire one shot at a time, the one-shot damage of bursts will kill stuff fast. Also If you target the power plant helps in the kills/h.
True, the Anaconda and the 'vette have much more firepower than the python, but the python is more accurate and does module damage faster - it's also faster on small ship killing, especially with cobras, because you really get within couple of meters from them. Only downside with python is the overheating and the size of the distributor. Still a solid deathmachine.
Note, this is just personal observations, preference and experience.
Example build
I love putting a pair of Class 3 Burst Turrets, one on each of the top-side mounts, of the Python. They keep pecking at shields and hull, especially when fighting a pack of more nimble adversaries. Better still, a C-rated Power Plant + B-rated Powet Distributor will keep power going to both without issue. Constant pecking, consistent damage.
For larger adversaries, I have a Class 3 Gimballed Beam in the center mount, and Class 2 Gimballed Multicannons for pegging the hull. They do the real damage, especially as it's easier to get a bead on them too. Chaff only lasts so long, and then I bring the pain. Might try a fixed mount for that center at some point, which removes any effectiveness of chaff.
It'll also let me engage a larger enemy while I have its smaller escort targetted and getting pecked at by the Turrets. I haven't tried a 'Corvette or 'Conda yet, but I plan on being in a Python for a very, very long time.
