It's so obvious, I was really kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner (and I'd be 58,000cr better off).

It's one of those "d'oh!" moments :D

That's a cool Vid, not seen that before. I was planning on pimping my Sidey, but I am now edging towards saving up for a Viper after watching that. :D

I have gone and bought myself a Viper, feels really nice but likes to drink the fuel a bit I noticed.

If anyone fancies a wingman at the weekend give me a shout, I need to start making some money again, and with this beauty, it seems Bounty Hunting is the only option :D

My personal ship of chice so far just HAS to be the Asp !
pros: surpringly good handling at 'blue' speed (it can turn and burn with a sidey) though it turns like a barge at top speed
cargo .. and lots of it (160 T with shields, 192 stripped down)
reasonable range
6 weapon mounts (4x1 + 2x2)+ 4 utility gives it quite a punch
cons: costly, both the ship itself and the stuff you bolt on it (FSD, powerplant etc)
good shields will cost you 32 T cargo space, but if you want to fight in this, it'll be worth it

as for the other ships I have flown:
Cobra III is your swiss army knife in space - whatever you need to do, you can do it in a mk III, though a specialised ship will likely do it better.
T6 is a truck - and it's good at what it does.
Viper: reminds me of the old F4 phantom - fast as a bat out of hell, but turns like a brick.
Eagle: not quite as fast or durable as the viper, but watch this baby run circles around just about anything.
Sidewinder: nifty little starter ship, and with a bit of love (and a solid credit balance) it can become quite dangerous.

I just got an ASP. :shock:

Man that ship is all kinds of awesome :D

I've fitted a couple of upgrades and the thing is lethal. I've got a couple of beam lasers and 4 multi-cannons and it's just flying death. Pretty nifty and manoeuvrable, somewhere between a cobra and a T6 I'd say and given the cargo hold and weaponry that's pretty decent. Great jump distance as well so all in all the ideal all round ship.

Forgive the double post but I have now purchased and upgraded an Adder :D

Very happy with it. Nice step up from a sidewinder and it has more teeth than a hauler. 2 small hardpoints and 1 medium one mean it's a small trader you probably want to think twice about taking on. I've upgraded the drives, thruster, power and distribution and it handles pretty well, pretty close to the Sidewinder in fact (that's with the upgrades) Off the top of my head I've upgraded the cargo space to 12 tonnes so slightly less than the hauler. I think I paid about 87,000 credits for the base model.

The only thing is it looks feck all like the original Adder and more like the Hauler's nastier brother. It has a distinctive shuttle like shape and the cockpit visibility isn't the best. Oh and for some reason the steering wheel is on the wrong side :shock:

Overall nice little ship for small trading that can handle itself in a scrap.

Quite a lot of the reviews are from a while ago and most probably need doing again; for example the Asp cargo sapce has been reduced and I pretty sure most ships have been tweaked in some way or another;

My views;
Sidewinder; As a starting ship I liked it, I didn't stay in it for long though

Eagle; Yes it can turn very quickly but as a combat ship I find it to rely on that too much. Should you make a mistake it is not forgiving as as soon as the enemy has their guns on you your in trouble.

Hauler; I got this from selling my free-eagle. Used it to get my Cobra. A good trade ship for the early stages. Makes you happy when you get in to the Cobra for the bigger cargo hold and range.

Cobra; I like this ship, it has enough fire-power to hold its own, cargo space to trade with and range to explore. Truly a jack-of-all-trades ship. To me I think this is the ship a LOT of people will use for a long time because it is that flexible.

Viper; Got this recently so still finding its sweet spot, same number of hard points as the Cobra but feels more manoeuvrable. Had some chats a week or so ago in TS and the disturbing consensus was that the Cobra mk3 was actually better in combat than this. Hopefully no longer true and if is hopefully will be addressed as a JoaT should never be better than a dedicated platform. Small carog space and limited jump range (A grade everything & no cargo is around 13.8 LY I think (not in-game to check). Fuel tank is a little small, 3 max range jumps and you need to refuel. So make sure you have a scoop.

Type 6; A true hauling ship; If you get interdicted make sure you can escape FAST) Some people sell the shields for more space. Can carry around 100t with shields though and a decent jump range. Used quite a lot by me to trade with.
