I have pulses in my Vette too. Beams increase heat too much and draw too much power.

Me? I am heading towards Fehu economical route again but from a different side. Need 4% more for Pioneer and this is my goal for THIS year 62 jumps to go...

I have yet to fire an SCB on the vette to see how bad the heat is, but here is my thought process (however screwed up it may be) based on past experience ....

On my Python, a 6A SCB would cause about 2% module damage if unchecked (no heat sink used) No biggie, IMO. If I was "guns blazing" and almost out of shield, then I'd use a HS with the SCB since the weapons are keeping her pretty hot at the time anyway.
On my Conda, a 6A SCB would cause 1-2% damage if unchecked. I didn't use heat sinks.
On my FDL, I can fire a 4A SCB without the temp even hitting 100%. No heat sinks on board.

I can live with some module damage, especially since a RES is never far from a station.

Once I use an SCB on the Vette I'll see how bad the heat is. If it's enough to warrant a heat sink, with the one HS on board I can fire the heat sink 4 times with 4 SCB uses. If I continue to need to use an SCB after that, I will just accept the module damage. If I find that the 7A generates more than about 2-3% module damage, I may add another HS or switch to smaller SCB's.

I typically RES hunt for an hour or so at a time, so I don't anticipate any issues with excessive module damage. During this mornings 40 minute RES test session in the vette, I didn't use an SBC at all. I think the NPC's are afraid of the ship.

Another option... some commanders are keeping an AFMU on board their combat ships and repairing severely damaged modules as needed instead of giving up an external bay for a heat sink. I haven't tried that method yet, but it makes sense.

Just arrived at Barnard star ... gonna do a bit of sight seeing in Sol in my Cobra.

Im skint ... as Ive just bloody ran out of fuel in the last system.
When I loaded game up, the nearest port was 0.30ly away ... journey time of 1hr 15 .
Got it down ro 0.28ly distance, when I ran out of fuel, and watched my windscreen freeze over just before I croaked it from running out of oxygen.
After insurance ... Ive got a grand total of 94 credits . Whoo hoo ... !!!
Selling my beam laser for some reddies ... never really liked that weapon anyway .

You’re not attacking wings large enough.

You don’t get too much damage if you use the SCB between fights as opposed to during them. After a bit of cool down my temperature is around 32, 33%. When I use a SCB at that point, it goes up to 120% or so, but only for a second or two, so the damage I get from that is negligible. Victoria and I are not having a single heat sink on our Corvettes.

We have a AFMU, tho, and use it when modules get in the low 90’s.

Thanks Flip! That's what I was thinking on the HS.

I am slowly attacking larger wings, as I get more comfortable. Today I took on a dropship and clipper in wing. I've also done wings of two small fighters with a large ship (python, clipper, etc). I saw a wing of an Anaconda and two pythons in the RES today and decided to leave that one alone.
