No. I'm a little sick of turning the other cheek. So I wrote David Braben, told him exactly what I thought of his vision of the future so far, and informed him I'm not giving him another dime until an official PvE option is put into the game.

I know why he's not doing it. He knows the same thing every other MMO operator knows - PvE is by far more preferred. Ever step onto a PvP server on, say, SWTOR?

Crickets. The biggest populations are the PvE servers, by far. And that's not the only MMO. I'm hard-pressed to think of a single MMO having both PvE and PvP options where PvP is preferred. (Maybe GW2, but they have an sPvP setup across all servers so it'd be hard to tell.)

I'm sick of living in a vision of the future that sees me having to sweat if a hollowed-out indicator is on my sensors. I DO THAT EVERY DAMNED DAY HERE IN THE STATES! I am so sick and tired of having to be afraid of my fellow human beings!

For God's sake, all I want to do is work with my species to tackle the mysteries of existence in this universe. That's WAY fucking cooler than killing some dude! Killing shit is as overrated as the Kardashians!

I don't want to fight anymore. I'm tired of fighting. So I'm just gonna talk with my wallet, and if that means never getting to explore a fuckin' planet or whatever, then so be it. That's how Goddamned tired I am of the concept.

As far as I'm concerned, Braben's vision of the galaxy, as it stands now, is worth exploring. But it's not worth a penny more of my support. I won't pay to further his ideology of tribalism and harassment as a means of advancing the species. End of story.

There's a reason it's called "Elite: Dangerous", not "Elite: Mostly Harmless"

My most scary/tense moments in the game have come at the hands of other players, like being hunted through a RES while in a stealth diamondback, being chased through multiple systems, fighting CMDR Cillit Bang's viper in a 1v1, and being ganked in a 4v4 wing duel.

There are reasons people prefer PvP over PvE, just saying. NPC's become a boring grind-fest for some, and offer no challenge at all.

I love this fallacy argument because it is always given by people who are attacking people that are not dangerous to them. You give examples of Scary/tense moments and wax elegantly about this is Elite "Dangerous" not Elite "Mostly Harmless" without apparently knowing WHY the game is actually called Elite Dangerous and you are "lecturing" to others after you grief at a station in an eagle without any risk or "danger" to yourself by being in a purposely disposable ship.

Some people prefer PvP, others prefer PvE. And if you prefer PvP over PvE there is Open and CQC for you .... NOT infiltrating a PvE group with the express purpose of forcing PvP on those who have expressed a desire against it and made efforts to get away from it.

So you need to get off your soap box and dispose of the bullshit it collected after it came out of your mouth while you "preached'.

As for being respectful, you have clearly already shown that you have none for us, so I am struggling to find a reason why people should have any for you.

This is turning into the type of conversation that had best be continued in private rather than out here for all of us to see.

I will be the last person to prescribe how members of this forum should interact with each other on a personal level, who you gripe at is your concern, but it is mine to moderate this environment. The last page of this thread has contained rather annoying levels of snark and rudeness, and I do not believe annoyance or disgust are what people would like to encounter in their free time, playing a game.

I would refer certain parties involved to this thread and voice my opinion, as a moderator, that in some aspects of recent forum conversations, the maturity of certain members is starting to decline.

I would also remind users that if the conduct or rhetoric of someone bothers you so much that you feel the urge to kick kittens, light things on fire, or yell obscenities, there is an option in your user profile to add that person to a list of 'foes', whereby you won't have to read any post by them ever again.

If you have questions or concerns, please take them up with an admin or a forum moderator, but I think it's time for all of us to grow up a little bit.
