Define Close? at 2km they will open fire and destroy you in about 10 seconds regardless of what you fly. I think they warn at 4 or 5. I didn't see the warning. My Vulture with A rated shields and two A rated boosters didn't last long.

Ouch, they definitely changed that then. Last time I dropped in with a Cap Ship in Facece I flew all the way to its hangar deck, around 100 meters from it, and didn't get roasted. Then again, I was allied with the Empire.
