Empire permits.... are they worth the effort?

Hi All,
The only thing I've found of use with the permits is at Facece - Imperial Slaves trade at about Cr17,300 or more.

So..... apparently I'm a moron. I am pretty darn sure that I checked my permits about a month ago, and I didn't have any.

I haven't done any missions specifically related to permits, so when the hell did all of this happen???

Regarding your system permits. You get them based upon your current rank in the Navy as shown here: http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Federation/Ranks

Now that's just the Federation, but that gives you an idea.

I've been thinking about doing BB missions to get the Empire permits for Achenar, Summerland, and Facece, but after doing some research I haven't found any advantage in having them.

Am I missing something? What do these systems offer that is so special?

At Facece some stuff is bought at real nice prices, and many elsewhere illegal things (imp.slaves (from Cemiess nearby, 3400 Cr/ton profit); battle weapons, etc) are legal imports to the system (which consists of primarily Military stations).

also there was a community goal at Facece once that was a huge cash earner for many of those who took part. there was lots of players scrabbling about trying to earn the permit that week.

Permits don't have any specific missions tied to them, they just come with rank/rep. So they'll just show up in your log without warning

That's what threw me off. For some reason I thought you had to do specific missions to get permits. Senility, I suppose.

Yeah, the permit unlocks are worder like you would have to do something. I remember Summerland being about a banquet I was invited to. To this day I'm waiting for my posh Imperial food that never arrived

But yeah, most aren't really important, though Facece and Achenar are nice to visit, if you want to see a Majestic Class Interdictor up close 'n personal without it trying to kill everything in sight.
