Bounty Hunting seems not so profitable.

Postby Scarstitchez » Sat Jan 31, 2015 2:24 pm

I finally got into my Cobra and decided to take a break from rares runs and do some bounty hunting. I have been based in and around Leesti. I have hit NAV points RESs both in faction systems and in anarchy systems using a KWS on all ships. In the last 2 days I might average 40-50k in bounties an hour. To me this seems to not be al that great really. All I ever find anywhere are sidewinders, eagles and the occasional T6/T7 or Cobra. Is it just the area or has bounty hunting been hit with a nerf bat? I am almost tempted to fly in open and try my hand at hunting players but I am still kitting out my Cobra.

Also where do you find better guns than class e,f, and g. Is it just a RNG thing or do I ned to go somewhere special for higher grade weapons?

I've been doing 100k-200k per hour in my Viper. I think that is profitable.

so is it just the systems I am in? I mean seriously all I ever see are sidewinders mostly in both RESs and Nav Beacons. If I pick a faction and start ranking up will that improve bounties maybe? Sorry for being so newbish.

How I see it :
Trading and mining are activities to make money (the "job part" where you earn the Cr. to equip fancy dogfighting or exploring ships). Bounty hunting and exploring are mostly the "holidays part" where you have fun.

I think the people who make the big bucks in bounty hunting collect pirate lord assassination missions. The mission awards up to 150k and killing the anaconda a 40 to 50k bounty on top of it.

I've heard that RES spawn types of ships and that people recommend supercruising out and going back in until you see pirate Cobras spawn.

Yesterday evening while bounty hunting at a Nav point not far from home, I found an Anaconda with a 50K bounty, but didn't start the shooting with my Eagle... :) I waited around a while thinking the Feds would have a go and may be I could steal the kill in the end, but it just didn't happen. :(

I have a pretty decently upgraded Viper and just by flying around the systems, dropping into USSs and Navpoints can easily make me 100k Cr per hour. Just yesterday I dropped into a USS with 6 ships in it. 2x ASP, 1 Eagle and a Viper (the other 2 were fed police vipers).

I killed both ASPs and the eagle which got me 85k Cr bounty. And it took me only 10min. I got extremely lucky there :)

The other day I saw a wanted anaconda. Targeted and destroyed its drive so that it would just drift out of control. Except that didn't happen - its thrusters must have malfunctioned before I destroyed the drive because it started moving away at high speed but didn't have control (was spinning slowly as if flight assist was off).

I had to boost continuously with 4 pips to engines to catch up with it. Each boost only brought me about .2 km closer. Slowly caught up with it, took its shields down, but because I had 4 pips to engines, weapons drained fast. Putting more to weapons just made it go out of range much faster. Its shields came back up a couple of times. I think I chased that stupid ship for 10 minutes before I managed to destroy it.

I usually try to find Resource Excavation Site with lot of enemy Cobras. Good day they 15-20k per one and bad day 9000-12k. If you kill only 10 per hour (which is pretty easy) you already make money. With weapons that doesn't cost much to rearm you make money fast... If you just want to spend your time hanging on the belts.
