@RedQueen I really like both actually. I'll keep them both saved. That looks amazing and I'm very thankful to you for taking the time to do that. The only other thing I can even think of is to make the silver outline not so "chromey." Maybe just a flat, even stainless steel type look? Either way, I think it's gonna look really cool on our ships! Good job the other night fighting btw. For flying an Adder, you did very well.
@Octavius K Porteus We'll get ya something a little more beefy than that eagle eventually. If you wanna stay in it that's great, but I'm not sure how well it will do in Anaconda + bigger ship battles. If it works for you though, rock on! Also, edit your original post for me and throw your call sign in there. I forgot to mention that earlier
@Black Puddin Lol to almost everything you said. Yes, there will be killing. This wing will more than likely turn into a coop wing that participates in a lot of things. I see us doing mostly bounty hunting, missions, trade escorts for Elite: PvE players, and participating in system flipping if they can ever get the mechanic right... Whatever the case, it will be based on whoever is currently on and what the majority of people want to do do. If the whole group wants to bounty hunt in the rings somewhere or at a beacon, we'll make as many in-game wings as necessary to do so. If someone wants to do a little RP'ing and fly an escort mission for a trader, cool.
Another update on some things before we move forward.
1.)
Call Signs - I forgot to mention to everyone in the info request post to give me your call signs. It doesn't have to be your name. Just think up something you want to be called. My guess is that we can change nicknames in the TS to help us all memorize them since changing them there is fairly easy.
2.)
A base - I certainly don't mind having a base somewhere, but I encourage everyone to understand that this is mainly a support/bounty hunting wing. I'm not sure how important having a base is going to be, but I'm definitely open to the idea if someone is interested in it. My first guess would be Sol, but I'm open to suggestions. I know that Saktsak is a good option as well, but ADK Gaming has already laid claim to that one so I'm not sure how welcome we'll be. That being said, since we are a PvE group, I don't think it matters where we go
I simply thought Sol because it has lots of stations, decent outfitting for now, and it's home. Like I said, throw out some suggestions and I'll definitely listen
3.)
Factions - This will be primarily a federation wing. However, I'm not against independent players or other faction members teaming up; provided they agree with the current mission. If, for some reason, an Imperial player wants to join us, that's fine as long as they don't mind the fact that we're popping hulls of his/her comrades in Imp space... Privateering, bounty hunting, etc... is what the wing will be about. Just keep in mind that we support the federation, and will often be doing missions that earn Fed reputation and push for Fed control of things.
4.)
Role-Playing - Wanted to shed some light here. When I say RP'ing, I simply mean that we will be using call signs and pilot talk (Bogey on your 6, break right, splash 1,2,3,4, for kill counts etc...). For example, say we're patrolling the NAV beacon at some system. If you spot a big ship that you'll need help with, you may say something like this:
You'll say: "(Your callsign) to (Wing leader's callsign). They'll say go ahead. Request support for (ship type), (Pilot's NPC name), (Distance from you in kms), WANTED - 12 365 <--- Amount of credits read as twelve three six five (As of right now, this is the only way to truly identify an NPC if there is more than one of the same type). Engaging (your'e now shooting at them), Tally Ho (You're moving to engage), Holding (You're waiting on other ships to back you up before you start shooting), or Scanning (Indicating that you are using your K-Warrant Scanner). "
Wing Leader will say: "Acknowledged (Roger, Copy, Affirmative, whatever), (List of callsigns being ordered to help), Snap to (Callsign of player requesting support), Anaconda, 5.5 Clicks out, Max Payne, WANTED - twelve three six five, Confirm.
Responding Units will say: "Acknowledged. I'm in."
Seems a bit complicated, but it's actually very simple to do this, and adds immensely to the immersion factor. It's a lot of fun, and doesn't have to be rigid. Makes you feel like a real starfighter; especially if you have a joystick
Just keep in mind that I want this to be fun. If people have a hard time getting this down or if it starts to impact gameplay severely, then we won't do it. But I have a feeling that most everyone will catch on pretty quick and REALLY get into the game by using proper engaging jargon. ALSO, there is a TS plugin called "Crosstalk" and "Radio FX." These are used to make the incoming voices sound like they're coming through a sci-fi radio. I'll make a post later on how to acquire and install these. You can even get nextel clicks and radio key up sounds as well; all personalized to your tastes. More to come on this.
Any questions, concerns, bitches, gripes, complaints; let me know. Thanks again everyone, see you all soon!
