A few things to think about for us "Eagles" as the update approaches. The newsletter came out today talking about "Wings." I wanted to put some creative uses and highlights to those who are interested in joining the "Steel Eagles." Just a few things I was thinking about today.

The functionality of Wings sounds pretty promising. If you haven't read newsletter #63, give it a look.

They have basically said it will be 4 CMDR's to a wing, and that they're basically going to let us group supercruise and hyperdrive together. Should make for some pretty epic transports between systems. Not to mention the fact that we can now provide a formal escort for traders now by simply forming up behind them and following them on those long journeys. MY GUESS is that this means one of two things for interdiction purposes. Either the entire wing gets interdicted by just one ship, or there has to be an NPC wing of equal size to pull us all out of supercruise at once. Either way, it will be nice to provide escort for fellow traders, each other, or fly fighter escort for anyone really.

I've also seen where they are talking about increasing the amount of NPC ships in unidentified signal sources to provide a better experience for those who are grouped. What this essentially means is that it sounds like they're trying to do away with the idea of splitting 10k-15k bounties up 4 ways. Sounds like they want it to be a bit more rewarding than chump changing everyone. I think they have realized that grouping should yield better rewards, not diminish the ones in place. In any case, if we can find us a good anaconda hunting hole, those bounties aren't too bad if they're split up 4 ways.

As far as our wing goes, I just wanted to shed some light on a few things as we move toward the update regarding our group specifically:

1. You don't have to fly a particular type of ship.
2. Unless paint jobs become free or very cheap, you don't need to worry about it too much. I'd like us to match, but that's only if it's doable for everyone. If custom paint jobs become a thing and aren't too expensive, I will personally pay for the paint job on everyone's ship.
3. Although we joke about the faction rivalries, I am not against flying escort for another member of our group here even if they are of another faction. If they are running a rare trade route, heavily guarded trade route, etc..., they're going to need help from anyone who is on. That being said, it's going to be totally voluntary, and I certainly don't EXPECT anyone to do anything they don't want to.
4. Still need anyone who is photoshop savvy to step forward and maybe tweak the logo a bit; possibly even start scheming up designs for paint jobs. I may do some of this myself while we're waiting.
5. If support for a federation-specific wing isn't very high, we may just try and create a wing for this group in general, and make it a neutral-zone type experience. My goal is to play with other people and have fun. If that means that I align with all 3 factions; so be it. Sounds like fun anyway!

I'm not "elite" at Photoshop, but I'm not "harmless" either. I did make my banner in my sig (minus the awesome card on the right hand side, of course). If this is enough talent, I can take a crack at it.

Really what we need is to simplify the logo so it just looks more basic. As in a black eagle silhouette with possibly a silver or lighter black/gray outline; having no background. We could use this to put on the ships if/when we get to paint them ourselves. Other than that, I'm not sure there's much need for anything else. Feel free to tinker with it if you like You're not going to be judged...

If I get a chance, I'll try something similar in Illustrator (but all my free time is spent flying currently). I'd be happy with what you did though.
