It for sure is a pretty System, I like it already!

Borr & Borr A1

That's a great pic! I do like those 'hell like' planets.

I should be on tonight (after 7 UK) if anyone fancies teaming up to create some debris.

It might be worth adding the current roster to the OP of this thread so we have an easy to find list of names. I was on TS last night but I don't know if any other Eagles were as I don't know many of our names. As has been said, it'd be good to get a dedicated channel (although I think passwording it seems a bit OTT personally), though most servers I've used in the past allow temporary channels to be set up by anyone, not sure if that is the case here.

Hello fellow CMDRs,

I like the formation flying idea a lot. When i used to play Freelancer with a Clan, we had a few training times to learn basic manoeuvring and formation flying... how to break formation, leader and wingman basic concepts and formation return. Would be very interesting to see how NPCs would react to basic flying tactics when Wings is deployed !!

One thing that i don't know is if we could have custom badges for our ships instead of the rank badges... Haven't read anything of sorts.

Gotta run some errands but i'll be back in a few.

This will obviously benefit the newer players more, but it would be cool for us to have some downloadable PDF's or something that have some basic info. If nothing else, I'm anxious to see our logo on something  I plan on making guides for bounty hunting, combat tactics/wing flight (yes, I have to admit I'm interested in using a bit of formation flying if it's not too difficult;), trading, ship outfitting, and misc. tips. Hopefully this will help out everyone in the mobius group as well!

This would be great! I'm assuming you're already going to include this, but could you outline in this guide the basic "Squadron Shorthand" we'll be using while in formation? It would be great to have a cheat sheet for reference, that way I don't forget how to speak halfway through a dogfight. :D

CMDR Whiteneck would love to join! I have 40+ hours of bounty experience in a Cobra, and some more in the Freewinder.

I have since moved to trading with the type 6, but I hate it. It's either I go back to some combat, even if in a small ship, be it bounty hunting solo, or better yet, a Wing would be a perfect solution!

I might even hold onto the Type 6 if we can get some fun regular missions together! Hopefully the wing will support smaller fighters! ;)

Let me know! I have open/flexible availability:

Current Timezone : USA Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8)
    Regularly Play: Mornings/Late Night (8-10AM/11PM-5AM)
Ship: Prefer Cobra MK III but I am open to any smaller fighter (I don't want to trade-grind anymore then I have to)
Role: Bounty Hunter/Federation Defense (i.e. SOL Defense, Community Wings Mission would be fun as well, Escort duty in OPEN/Group would be great too!)

Thanks!

Welcome Whiteneck!

Black Puddin asked how to recognize us in TS, I know that I, Hinterlighter (Tucky) and Turbo added "365th Steel Eagles" to our TS nickname and we often are connected under the federation channel.
I'm entirely OK with everything Turbo said about PDFs and such, just as Crisp said it would be nice to have a paper with a bit of vocabulary (although we can do it by ourselves too), I'm not a native speaker and I sometimes forget words when I'm in a hurry.
I won't be connected a lot this week, I'm back to school but I might give the logo/signature a try since I do not have to go to work in the morning for this week, I think it'll be possible Thursday morning.
See you all in Space, and fly safe !

Just out of interest - and because it might become relevant once we're all flying together - what control system is everyone using?

I'm using the X55 Rhino Hotas and a set of pedals

@BlackPuddin Yes, I will be doing some reorganizing of the forum page this week. If you all don't hear from me for a few days, It's just because I'm at work. I work long hours so I don't have much time to do much during my work days. Anyway, a roster will definitely be posted. It would be nice for everyone to be able to see TS names easily. I've already seen that sometimes people are online and I don't know who they are on TS. Adding the "365 Steel Eagles" tag to the TS name is a great way for us to keep track of each other. Also, if people would like to use their call sign as their nickname (could be this way already), I think that would be great too!

@Incubuss Yes, formation flying can be very fun. It's a great tactic if used right; even in space. This, by no means, will be a requirement though. I respect that a lot of people simply aren't into this kind of thing. However, if everyone is willing to be cheesy with us, I'll do it all day long :) Can't say for sure how NPC's will react, but we'll find out. This may be it's own training session for those interested. This would be even more beneficial for people who are using joysticks/hotas'. I'll get with you on it, and we'll make it work :) Also, I am desperately awaiting custom squadron decals for ships. I can't see why they wouldn't allow this, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I get the feeling that they are already working on another major update that may/may not include this. In any case, it would be awesome if it does happen.

@Crisp I will definitely come up with a way for pilots to refer to some sort of a "jargon" sheet. I don't want it to get too complicated, but this would make for a pretty awesome replay/video if we can get it to be realistic. Who knows, we may even end up featured in a newsletter on Frontier's website? Lol. Anyway, the jargon won't be strict by any means, but it will take a little time to get setup if we're going to use it consistently. Just want everyone to try and be patient. I use a radio every day at my job, and it can be difficult to learn the proper way at first. It gets easier and easier as time goes on ;)

@Whiteneck Yes, trading is a pain. For the foreseeable future, this seems to be the only way we're going to make enough money to get the things we all want. Trading together can actually be fun though. Like I said before, there's going to be a perk to trading in groups. A fleet of type "whatever's" could be fun too! Lol. The good news is that you don't have to spend a year trading in this game to get the great ships, upgrades, weapons, etc... It really just takes a couple months of grinding to get substantially rich. In short, keep your type 6 and have plans to get you a type 7. It will benefit you greatly in the long run. Yes, we will accommodate smaller ships as well. We'll strategize to make it work :) Most of all, Welcome!

@Kehlin No worries my friend! We don't discriminate here :) As long as you don't mind 10-9'ing (repeating) your transmission now and again, we won't have any issues :)

@Mox Vandal Fellow Rhino Jockey here! Love the X55. Probably the best piece of computer hardware I think I've ever had my hands on. Soooooooo jealous of the pedals though. I may get some eventually. We'll see :)

Eagles,

Just wanted to let everyone know I'll try to be on as best I can this week. I have Wed, Thurs, and Fri off, but I go back to work Saturday morning. In any case, I'll try to get most of the housekeeping stuff done if I can. Just keep in mind that I like to play too :( Lol. Looking forward to this more and more as we go along. Thanks again for being a part of it :) Turbo out.

I'm currently using the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick. With such a low price tag (about $60), it was hard to pass up. The handling is great, I personally love having the rudder control in the flight stick, though you can also use the rudder paddles on the throttle if you prefer. Overall, I'm very pleased with it! (Much better than my Xbox 360 controller) :)
