I run class 1 beams and class 2 multi cannons. beams are good for melting away large ship's shields. Then I target the power plant and rip it apart with the multies. On 4 pips to weapons, you can fire the class 1 beams for ages without running out of charge (I overheat first).

haha, try the class 3 beam on the vulture.. even with 4 pips you drain it before you can fart.
