Greetings,

Newly registered to Mobius but not new to Elite having started on the Commodore 64 and due to many fond memories was a backer for the ED Kickstarter. Tend to play on and off, in between other games (just finished Fallout 4).

Have played solely in Open til now to see how far I could get without dying. Made it to Dangerous/Broker/Ranger before getting a little too close to a Thargoid yesterday. In some ways its a relief.

To be honest, work is stressful enough so I prefer to take it easy in games. I think I will get more out of the game in Mobius, being able to sight see at busy locations like Sol or visit Explorer engineers without having to deal with some tool looking to gank a lightly defended DBX for the lulz.

My play times are erratic so usually cant commit to much in the way of groups but looking forward to some action as a casual fighter from Carriers in future releases.

I came very close to dying a couple of times at least. Once from a CZ I got back to the station, no canopy, less than a minute of O2 and only a few percent on the hull.

Perhaps closer though was (earlier on in the game) when I used to fly a DBX more outfitted for general purpose so good weapons and shield. Occasionally I'd go for an exploration run - lots of small jumps but not too far out. I was heading back in to hand in my finds, late at night and pretty tired. With about 2 jumps to go I was interdicted by a NPC Python and for some bizarre reason I decided to take it on (this was before Engineers and I could usually beat a Python but still). Somehow it managed to wipe out my engines on the first attack. Luckily I was floating away at too high a speed for it to catch up to me but regardless my only option was to self destruct. I couldn't bring myself to do it so logged out and went and played a different game for a couple of months.

Eventually I decided to suck it up and get it over with. Thought I'd do a quick online check for suggestions first and found out that during that time FD had introduced the restart feature. So once again had cheated death by the skin of my teeth!

I thought I had done it again yesterday after managing to outrun the Thargoid swarm but it seems that the hull doesn't last long against their corrosive attack.
