Cmdr. Swader reporting for duty

Postby swader » Tue Dec 06, 2016 10:30 pm

Hello,

Commander Swader here. Very new at this game, but figured why not PvE team up from the get go. Played a little in open so far, wanting to go the safer, saner route henceforth. I'm a very casual player - quite busy these days - but I'll try and play as frequently as I can.

I'm a developer and technical writer by day, trying to be a gamer by night, but getting old and falling asleep these days instead (damn thirties!)

I have submitted a request to join the Mobius group in game - anything else I need to do? I saw the other intro threads with the long friends list and policies and everything, I've read the rules but I'm not sure how I can add all those people to my friends list at once? I have also applied for membership in the FB group, but am more active on Twitter if you feel like getting in touch there, too: @bitfalls

Well see, now I'm tempted to add the big block of intro test to this thread too, just for the sake of consistency. But you've already read it all!

I'm not sure about adding hundreds and hundreds of names to your friends list all at once, either. It might not be quite so simple.

In any case! Welcome to the forums!

Thank you, sir.
And now for like 5 hours of parking practice. I hope flying around with precision will get easier when my Hotas Warthog arrives, currently on the Xbox controller that came with the Oculus :$

I can only imagine. I actually still prefer keyboard and mouse. flying is sometimes a bit less than graceful, and can put your hand in interesting positions, but aiming feels much more accurate.

UnmarkedBoxcar is a little.... shall we say.... unique in his love of keyboard and mouse controls.

I think you'll love the Warthog, commander Swader, especially with your Rift! 8-) I use an X-52 Pro with my Vive, and couldn't imagine not using a HOTAS with a HMD. I recommend spending some time getting used to your HOTAS while flying in 2-D on a monitor until you develop some muscle memory for the controls and buttons, and hats, and levers, and...... you get the idea.

Yup, I'll do that, thanks, intend to practice quite a bit, but also interested in how the Touch controllers will perform. Looks like too few buttons, unless they let me literally grip the virtual stick in the cockpit and press its buttons, but we'll see!

A bit less than graceful... I guess that's one way of putting it
