Commander Prytania Introduction

Postby Prytania » Sun Nov 29, 2015 3:31 am

Hello, This game has been on my wishlist for a while and since it went on sale yesterday I picked it up. Already put 20 hours in within 2 days >_> Yay holidays. So I'd say I'm enjoying it. I recently bought an Eagle and am really loving the maneuverability and extra weapon slot.

Been watching a bunch of youtube videos, reading a lot of tutorials, asking for help on Reddit (mostly encountered trolls), and was directed to check this website/group of people out.

I've always enjoyed games that require a group of people to accomplish a task/challenge and rewards teamwork. I've done some serious raiding in WoW, I've played many games like Left 4 Dead, Recently I've dumped a lot of time into Heists in GTA5. So I'm hoping to find something similar with Elite Dangerous.

I hate PVP with a passion. I typically work 60 hours a week and then have a life outside of video games so I can't dedicate the time to become a master at any video game. It seems the PVP masters are the types that don't have a job, don't have any responsibilities, can buy the best computer hardware, and use all the right tools to win any battle. And then they're usually complete jerks about it all after they completely dominate you with all the perks/weapons when you have none of it. So I avoid PVP at all costs in any game I play.

I live in the New Orleans area and my forum handles/game nicknames are typically street names of the city (hence Prytania).

Welcome to the group, commander Prytania!

Its good to see another American join our ranks (Arizona resident here). :)

The learning curve in E-D is pretty steep. Feel free to ask questions!

Thanks I'll check out the links you suggested. Not sure how to chat in this game just yet especially since I'm playing on my couch using an Xbox controller but I guess I'll figure it out. Haven't used voice chat in a while, will try to figure that one out eventually too. I did see some voice program that you could setup to control the ship and that looked cool. Be nice to use voice commands for things I can't program into the Xbox controller.

Also the weather down here is lovely. I never want to move. It was rainy a bit while some cold fronts came in but it's 73 outside right now and sunny/overcast. Think I'm going to take the motorcycle out for a little while after lunch :)

I've been to Arizona for work around the Phoenix / Chandler area. Interesting place. Seems they decided to build a cardboard cutout city in the middle of the desert. Great for irrigation business though :)

The learning curve is pretty steep but I'm getting the hang of things pretty quick. A lot of trolls on Reddit kept going about "It's Elite DANGEROUS not Elite Easy. L2PLAY NOOB" and yea yea I get it. But ah well what can you do?

PS We Louisiana folk are only slightly American ;) We don't really like to play by the government's rules considering we still feel like Napoleon screwed up with the Louisiana Purchase.

Welcome to a fellow Louisianan!! Born and raised in Monroe, my oldest son lives in Lulling. I now live in Dallas. Get to Lulling several times a year, especially during Shrimp 'n season!!

Thanks SpikeWLD! Monroe is a good town I've been there quite a bit when I went to LA Tech back in the late 90's (showing my age there). Never been to Lulling but our datacenter is in Richardson so I am around the Dallas area several times a year. We have a trip planned for early January already!
