Greetings all.

A wave from an old timer here. My first brush with Elite was some 30 years ago, on the Acorn Electron. But the version I truly played a lot was the Commodore 64 one. I especially liked the docking computer on that one, as that meant I could enjoy the Donauwalzer each time I activated it ;)

I also own the PC versions, although I can't say I have played those much. Mostly due to, ahem, keyboard troubles. And that was caused mainly by said Electron and Commodore 64 versions. Where I (sort of by accident) had trained myself in flying level by pressing both up and down keys simultaneously, and pitching up or down by simply releasing the key for the opposite direction. Don't ask why, it just happened that way :)

Anyway, pressing multiple keys simultaneously on the PC version didn't work as expected, which sort of meant I suddenly couldn't fly anymore.

I've been playing the new version on and off since march of this year. And had keyboard troubles in the beginning. After racking up a couple of fines (one for accidental firing while inside a station, one for loitering and a couple of other rookie mistakes), and an afternoon spending with the key mappings, I got myself a working setup now. Basically, I just switched rotate and yaw, and fly with keyboard + mouse now.

Spent the first week in the stock Sidewinder, the second week in a stock Adder, and the two weeks after that in a (slightly) upgraded Cobra. I'm now flying both a significantly upgraded Asp, and a decently upgraded Clipper. The Cobra and Adder are still in storage though (just in case something horribly goes wrong with the insurance .... :p )

It was a couple of weeks ago where I stumbled upon the Mobius group being mentioned on the frontier forums. As I kind of dislike PvP, it seems like the perfect fit for a nice multi player experience. PvP in MMO's usually means maxed out players hitting only on opponents that don't stand a chance at fighting back. With me being the one with the big bull's eye painted on the back. In all my years in World of Warcraft, I had only one honorable pvp experience, where my opponent not only waited until I had finished off the NPC's I was fighting, but let me get back at full health before engaging. And bowed afterwards, when the engagement was over.

And so, here I am :)
