Hi all,
Quicksabre here. My sons (18, Thing 2, and 24, Thing 1) are avid gamers; yes, I raised them right. They noticed that I was tinkering with an old copy of Freelancer to get it running on my gaming laptop. Mercifully, Thing 1 got me Elite Dangerous Horizons as a birthday gift a few weeks back.
I've been a gamer since the 1970's, yes, I'm older than dirt. Played "Rogue" ~dungeon crawl~ on a mainframe at work when I was supposed to be migrating a database from Multics to UNIX for godssake. I also played the entire Wing Commander series, which led me to Privateer and then Freelancer. To me, Elite Dangerous is everything I always wished for those two games.
Nowadays I love modding the Fallout series, Elder Scrolls IV and V, Dying Light, FarCry, etc.
Not a big fan of PKers, but I understand the mentality. My usual modis operandi is to get good at a game and then go hunt whatever PKers that may exist (still doing that in Runescape since the boys were little and we played that together). Eventually I'll be a bounty hunter in Elite Dangerous open, I suppose.
IRL my career was IT, and my main 'hobby' is teaching martial arts ~ I've been teaching an eclectic karate style for 30+ years in Detroit, Michigan, where I grew up and still live.
