As a quick into, I'm a 35+ years old software engineer living near Paris, France. Although I have now a lot less time to dedicate to gaming, I'm still trying to

Years ago, I had abandoned all hope of ever seeing an open world space simulation game that wasn't a complete bore, or any game that would bring back happy memories of Starlancer and Freelancer, and somehow managed to not notice Elite Dangerous for some reason. Although I'm not a backer I definitely should have been and I'm regretting not being one every day now ...

And then I saw it, bought it immediately, ran to the attic to find my old MS Sidewinder 3D joystick, dusted it, found out it didn't work anymore and borrowed a TM T-Flight Hotas-X from a friend.

I started my pilot career exploring because that is my calling as an astronomy enthusiast, realized the Sidewinder and a few thousand credits wouldn't cut it at the rate early career exploration returns are, so I started a quite successful rare commodities trading career to gather enough credits. Then things got faster and I quickly went through an Adder, a Cobra and finally the ship I wanted, a beautiful ASP outfitted for (safe) exploration with a 30+Ly range.

In the process, I became interested in the quest for the source of the elusive Pavonis Ear grubs rare commodity, visited a hundred systems to try and find it, unsuccessfully... It is to this day still a mystery (or a bug)!

Since then I've embarked on several exploration journeys, to the Coalsack nebula, then in the sticks to try and find pulsars in the game (and failing, they're here but they're just regular neutron stars), then visiting the California Nebula and Orion, absolutely beautiful place, enormous amount of close packed stars. I'm now back at the fringes of colonized space, looking for opportunities and quite impatient to see what the community goals for explorers will look like !

As for why PvE, well I'm not a fan of opposition in a game environment. I'm more of a coop guy. And I don't want to be bothered by immature people, there's enough of that in real life

Hey all, Both in game and here I go by Hammeredmantis, I have yet to do any PvP but I do love collecting bounties and I figured I would find a group to fly with and do some PvE action. Currently running an Adder with decent damage output, but my shields and armor are currently kind of suck since I have neglected those upgrades thus far. Currently playing in Maridal as their nav hub is really busy and has a lot of targets, though I have also found out that if npc police decide to ram you, you are the one that gets into trouble and then they attack you >.>

Hi all, my name here is same as in the game.
My ship is ASP and I am trying get more credits for top equipment. After that i will left colonized space and I am going to explore new systems in deep space (for a while)
I always prefered PvE because I don't see any fun in hunting and killing other players when they are trying enjoy game in their own way.
So I am glad I found this extraordinary huge group of PvE players

Hi there,

CMDR Merlin Moondancer reporting in.

I'm a 50 year old gamer that has been in the business (selling and importing games to retail) a long time ago (pre 2000) and never really left it. Still following up on gaming trends and still play games.
As a gamer I prefer PvE Coop games, but they are a rare commodity. I was Dangerous back in the MSX days and the same on the Amiga platform. Looking forward to meeting like minded players here. Started as a Beta player.

Don't have that much time to play but have at last got the funds to get a Cobra for trading and exploration, still trying to get money for the A class stuff. Hopefully the development on E:D will continue with more community centric player goals.

Played the Speccy version years ago along with the ST version. Now retired so I am not young.


Long time EQ player so used to MMO games. Like ED so far just have to get on and make your own world great fun. It is what it is.
