As you probably know, there are a ton of ways to configure any ship in the game. I like Tor's build that he linked above, and here's another option for about the same money. It has less shield strength, but gains 2ly jump range, faster fuel scooping, and more cargo space. It could be another option for you.

If you have about $13m in the bank, either build would be a great start into hauling or running missions. The Asp really shines on long range hauling like Sothis/Ceos. ;)

While Sothis/Ceos is the current hype train, there are safer options for non-trivial range hauling missions. Maia (Obsidian Orbital/Darnielle's Progress) also offers a lot of 200-400 LY range missions with good payout, even if you are only neutral with the local factions. You can also do the tourist thing in the Pleiades (black holes, Barnacles, UA, UP, alien wrecks).

The big problem with Sothis/Ceos is that cluster of brown dwarfs between it and the main bubble, the fuel rats have a lot of work pulling new players out of it. The route from and to Maia is much safer in this regard.

And with the new planetary outpost on Eol Prou RS-T D3-94 2a, we will hopefully get some long range hauling mission that deserve the name ;)

Hello, Emma. I'm new to game and Mobius, too.

Apologies if someone else posted this, already, but I've found this tool useful for trading, and it seems to not be on a lot of the ED tool lists found online:

http://etn.io/

It's a little tough to read at first, but very info packed, powerful, and easy to use once you figure it out. Google around for how to use it, and you'll find explanations; the page also has a help button.

I jumped into a Type 6 ASAP (pretty cheap) and made enough cash using this tool to pretty quickly get an Asp Explorer. Again, I'm new too, and don't pretend to know much, so there may be quicker/better ways to make cash when starting out, but the above tool is good for trading when you're ready.

Well, I bought the Asp. I liked Tor's build to, so I used it to guide my own. It was seeing that it was well within my budget that persuaded me. But I followed part of yours too, by ditching the chaff dispenser for more shields.

I had about 35 million saved up, mostly from Sothis runs and the last community event, so I was able to outfit more. Here's my current build:

https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/0pftfFfl ... n=Emma%20G

Now the long-distance runs are only 2/3 the jumps I had to make in the Cobra, and I have over twice the cargo space (up from 36 to 84), so far more profit per run.

Yes - I ran into trouble with the brown dwarves the first time I went out there. I got scared after I hit four in a row, and then realised I didn't know how to find scoopable stars. So I googled that and now I know and have the right filters on my map, just in case. Luckily, I was within range of a populated system when I got worried and low on fuel, so I made it out ok.

I'm really happy with the ship. It looks great, carries plenty (for now!) and has great range. I'm going to try out Maia now, as recommended :)

Thanks all for the advice and help, and I still hope to see you out there!

Your build looks great, Emma. :)

The only thing I'd recommend changing is switching the life support and sensors to "D" rated. They are lighter than "E" modules and a bit better performance. Cheap upgrade and you'll gain about 1ly more jump range, too.

Well just for reference......Here's mine.....

http://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/25A5A5A4A ... Multi-Role

I used it for everything apart from planetary landings.......Trade...Missions.....Bounty hunting.....Low key exploring.....

A true multi-role.......Does not do any one thing great.....But it's versatile......

Love It.......
