I'm glad that the Rares Route is working out for you! :)

When you can spend the money on it, an A class frame shift drive will help you travel further on each jump, so you'll have far fewer jumps between destinations.

Thanks JohnLuke. I upgraded from a 4E to a 4B. The 4A is out of my reach for now.

Hi,

I'd also highly recommend upgrading to a class A power plant. That will make a huge difference when fuel scooping - it manages heat better, and you won't overheat nearly as quickly.

I'd also suggest doing Ceos/Sothis runs. Plenty of guides on how to do it, and you should be able to make some decent credits even with a Cobra, around $250k per ton, and since that should take you around two hours, assuming 28T of cargo space, you're looking at 3.5 million credits per hour. A build like this might work.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Thank you Mercath. I never heard of those systems, but I still made about 5 million credits doing that run tonight. And the power plant was a great tip. I now have an A-class scoop and powerplant, and refuelling is much easier and faster than when I started.

I did run into a problem at one point, where I had a long stretch of only getting brown dwarf stars, and nearly running out of fuel. I had to detour to a system off my route to refuel. After that, instead of waiting until I was getting low on fuel, I started just topping up the tank in every second system.

Do you have any recommendations for next ship to move to, after the Cobra? Asp Explorer?

And should I pledge allegiance to a Galactic Power? Is there a particular one that we as a group support?

The Asp Ex is a great next move, plenty of fire power and much more cargo.

As for Power Play, well, it's a bit marmite, ALD or Hudson are good if you like bounty hunting, but (and it's a big BUT) you'll basically shut off half the bubble from yourself, and you can expect to get interdicated, a lot!

Fancy a drink ????

:D

Asp X all the way........Lovely ship......Great ship......Marvellous ship......

Learn to fly it and learn what it can and cannot do (which aint a lot in my opinion) and it will serve you well......

And PP is shite.......

Ties you down too much......

But if you like that sorta thing.....There are some experts out there on PP....

:)

I'm an expert on power play and I can sum it up in two words.

"Absolute garbage!"
Its all the work of bounty hunting and trading, only you make no money, in fact you moore often than not loose money on it.

And you get interdicted ten times as often .

I agree with the recommendations for an Asp X for a great next ship for you.

I was an advocate for power play for a long long time, but not after 2.1 came out. Way too many interdictions and hassles to suit my taste. I'd avoid getting involved if I were you.

ok, no PP. And one more good trip in order to be able to afford an Asp Explorer.

I would try to have about 15-18 mil before getting an aspx, at least if you want a somewhat multipurpose build. And you can quite easily spend 40 mil on one so be warned.

I recommend always testing/tweaking your biuld with https://coriolis.io
And also try finding stuff in Li Yong Rui controlled space.
He has a permanent 15% rebate on both ships and modules.
