So I'm still new to Elite in general, and I've made some posts over on the main Frontier forums. However I was becoming more and more anxious over the VAST amount of posts and discussions I've been reading about going in to open play and how overpopulated it is with mouth-breathing cro-mags. I've only played in Solo and a few stints in a private group with a close friend. But I've shied away completely from open play because getting bagged on by twerps in 'Condas at your first jump in-system just frankly sounds... awful... and like a waste of the few precious hours I get to spend playing Elite.

So I end up seeing lots of posts telling people they should "go to MOBIUS".
What the heck is that?
-use search function
-find out paradise is a real place
-come here
-read policies
-become happy
-register
-rejoice!

Can't wait to get home tonight and request a join with the group!

I have to tell ya' .... your post brought a HUGE smile to my face! I love your enthusiasm about finding our little corner of the galaxy.

Please feel free to add your name to the In game friends list thread, and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius. We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

Thank you for the welcome and thanks for posting so many helpful links! I am reading through them all. Definitely read the policy page before deciding to register

So I admit that I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs of multiplayer conventions within Elite. If I join the private group Mobius, what exactly happens? I've played in a private group but with only one person with whom I am "friends" in Elite.

If I join Mobius can I see a list of all the players currently online? Or will I be online in the group (which I understand to effectively be a private instance?) with people but not see anyone unless connected and confirmed as a "friend"? Meaning I could potentially *bump* in to a fellow group member while playing, but not necessarily see them on the map or have any info on them unless we are friends?

Is the massive friends list that you link to something I need to get added to so I can see fellow Mobius players in the Galaxy Map when I sign in?

Sorry for the 'new guy' questions.

other players will only appear on the galaxy map if they are in your personal friends list but you will bump into the odd cmdr on occasion, especially if you take part in the community goals. the friends list thread is like an open invitation for friendship, if you add your name to it you may be added to the in game friends list of other players (you'll get the request in game that you can either accept or decline) and you are also free to add anyone else from the list by sending them an in game invite (CTRL+V comes in handy here as you can use it to paste their name into the search box)

Feel free to send me a friend request, and you'll have at least one green icon on your Gal map when we're on at the same time.

If you hang around our home systems of Azrael and Exioce, you'll bump into commanders pretty frequently. I work the area, and am usually up for some BH wing action if you're interested in joining in.

I will first put in an official join request tonight and wait until I've been added to the group before posting to the large friends thread. I will let my buddy Cmdr FALANX know about this group as well. We wing up and BH together frequently (Somebody has to save those miners!) I will also add you as a friend as well and feel free to do the same my forum name is the same as my Commander name: EJIRO

Not sure how far away I am from those core systems you mention. I'm currently smack in Imperial space and I've carved out a nice spot under some palm trees at Tannhauser Gate in Aztlan Been trying to outfit a Cobra MKII smuggling ship to try something a bit different from grinding those RES's Should have a good jump range though so I will try to make my way over there soon!

I will check my status tonight to see if I've been added to the group and make sure I accept your friend request. Great to hear that I don't have to travel far! Though I've taken a break from BH to try my hand at playing the "dashing rogue" and built my own version of the "Millennium Falcon" for smuggling runs (A stripped down Cobra MKIII I dubbed thee: CENTURY HAWK ) Might be fun however to meet up and see if I can scoop contraband from pirates that you blast.... hmmm... yes... this sounds like a great plan!

We have a LOT of members who are located in European countries, but I don't hold that against them.

I'm from Arizona, and play mostly on weekend early mornings (VERY early) and afternoons. You may catch me in game in the evenings once in a while.
