Hey Guys,

I would say I am semi new to Elite. Got it this year. Gimpenstein convinced me to get it since I am an Eve fan and been looking for a game that gives me close to that experience but gives me control of the ship versus virtual die rolls and mouse clicks.

My first experience in Eve was OpenPlay and died 10 mins in the game getting killed by a Cmdr in a Python while I was still learning in a Sidewinder. That is when I learned about solo play.

Though solo play keeps me from getting griefed, it took me out of the social aspect of the game. Eve solved this with high and low security space where Concord (the police) would warp gate in if you commit an infraction and almost instantly vaporize your ship no matter what you are in. So, griefing in high sec was a money loss so almost all people avoided it. Low sec was made enticing by offering shortcuts for trade routes through them and rare minerals for creating high value items that sell for ridiculous amounts.

This game doesn't really have a system that cleanly separates out the PvE and PvP aspect of the game but allow the two cultures to still interact without ruining each other's experience. My first experience was group play with Gimpenstein. He needs to fix his mic. Felt good having a social aspect to this game. Then he told me about this group. I tried to join a few weeks ago but got nothing in Elite. Will try and send one again but the whole part of an MMO is the social so it would be nice to be able to chat with people that will not shoot me and even group up for some stuff, learn more of the ropes of the game.
