CMDR Dread Pirate Willy

Postby Mattwood » Mon Aug 31, 2015 4:40 pm

Hey all,

Recently started playing ED and got poked into joining Mobius, no regrets with either so far!

Done a little bit of everything in the last week or so, Exploration/BH/Powerplay and Trading but i'm looking for a few people to fly with(Down near QA'WAKANA at the moment at a RES)

Managed to get a nice 6M bank balance together along with a Cobra, Type 6 and possibly my favourite ship ATM, Diamondback Scout.

I'll be having a look around the site, Loriath has pointed me in the direction of the Ingame friends list thread, i think i've got a fairly good handle on whats what in the game but any tips are more than welcome.

Cheers! look forward to getting blown up beside you.

Mixing Princess Bride with Goonies.. what's not to love ^,^. Welcome and hope you have fun. The DBS is a great ship, I just upgraded mine to a Explorer to test out.

Y'know, i wasn't actually aiming for that but it works, so i'll go with it haha!

Thanks btw, already am :)

Mind letting me know what you think of the DBE? i've heard they're not brilliant for bounty hunting, although i heard mutters about the DBS not being great for bounty hunting and it's serving me fine in High intensity's pulling most agro.

Welcome to Mobius, commander Dread.... Pirate.... Willy. (it just seemed right to slow it down a bit) ;)

I flew a DBS for a while, and loved the agility and long jump range. It's not a super hearty combat ship, but it can hold it's own pretty darn well. When I use my Vulture for undermining or far away crime sweeps, I long for a DBS.

Check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders. Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks for new players to help everyone get the most fun possible out of the game.

While I was using my Scout of combat, I outfitted the Explorer for exploration. I didn't put any weapons and if I'm interdicted my goal is to run then jump.

Hey there!

Slow and steady mate ;)

Yeah, i mean i've weighed mine down with a few shield boosters and some hull reinforcement but for the targets im going for its working well, can take them down with ease and it's pretty easy to GTFO if i run into any issues ;P

I was looking at going for a vulture when i have the CR, looking forward to it!

I'll look at getting on the TS, space wont be such a lonely place while using these forums by the looks of it :)

Thanks for the welcome :)

Ahh! im currently using a cobra for exploration, heard mixed opinions of the DBE but will probably buy one and head out in it, from a visuals point of view they're amazing looking ships.

Once I get 5 mil I can put the A5 FSD on it and get just under the ASP's jump range on it. It has 1 more cargo bay then the scout does .. thought about putting a Automatic repair module on it but instead went with 16 more fuel. I look forward to seeing you in the Black ^,^

Interesting! I'm really new to the game so not looked into the benefits of ASP over DBE + vice versa yet but i will be.

Regarding the repair unit, i had one on my cobra and barely used it.. though i suppose it will come in handy when i derp and accidentally alt tab out during hyper ;)

You too, added you in game.

I think the main benefit of the DBE over the Asp is that it is significantly fewer credits. I had both for a while...mostly just fiddling with pros and cons... and ended up selling both anyway <.<

I do still have my Scout, though... love that little ship... with a couple chaff launchers and a shield cell bank, matched with its speed and maneuverability, I found it surprisingly survivable.

Not quite as sturdy as Red, of course, but she is the best ship in the whole galaxy ...so....yeah...

Also, welcome welcome, Commander. :D

Hey! thanks, i'm not sure if i've got in you in-game but if not will add :)

Well i've been flyiung this DBS for a while now, it's got around 200 shield 500 armor with my current config and it's not failed me once, there's been close calls but thats mostly from me wiping myself down the side of stations.

If i'm honest i prefer the look of the DBE to the ASP, which i know counts for nothing in game but, hell the DBS/DBE are awesome looking ships.

Look forward to seeing you around :)

Matt.
