Are you guys a "guild"?
It isn't like WoW, where you have a different servers - some PVE and some PVP. A guild in WoW is a group within a server - you still see people outside of your guild who are on the server. In E:D, there is just one server but you don't see anyone outside of the private group.
In case you're not familiar with the mechanics of how the different play modes work...
The game has 3 modes:
- Open Play
- Private Groups
- Solo
All three modes share the same game world but each controls who you encounter while playing. With solo, you see no one. In Open, you see everyone who is not playing Solo or is in a private group. Open is the normal "PVP" mode. In a private group, you only see members of that group - you don't see anyone playing Solo or Open.
While in Mobius, you are capable of attacking other players, but the group is made up of people who choose not to (outside of warzones), so you'll only be seeing people who also choose not to PVP. You can read more about the policy here:
page/policyRegardless of the mode you use, you'll see the effects of other people's activities in the game world. For example, if you are trading at a specific system while playing Solo, supply and demand is affected by other players trading in the same system in Open Play and private groups, even though you won't encounter them personally.
