Greetings CMDRs, I played Elite on the Commodore 64 way back in the old days. Probably played every space game that came out since. Just picked up Elite Dangerous about three weeks ago and enjoying it. I love open world games. Probably racked over 700+ hours on modded Skyrim alone. I played EVE and DAOC until I got married and had kids. With three little kids all under 5 years old, I don't have much time to really play MMOs anymore. But I try to make an exception with ED since there has not been a good space-sim since (I can't even remember...IW2 / Freespace2)?

I decided to join the group because although I like the multiplayer aspect of Elite, I hate the player griefing or PK'ing that is usually used to ruin someone's fun. I don't mind cooperative PVP such as the old DAOC model where PVP was cooperative and no real griefing was possible.

I'm hoping to see other like minded CMDRs out there in space!

Hi,

I´m a mechanical engineer from Chile. I´ve been playing space games since the wing Commander series. I also love combat fligth sims (rise of fligth is one of the best trainnings you´re going to get to practice combat for ED). I was playing solo until now because I really dont want to shoot (or get shot by) another human player. I really belive that PvP must be consensual in a dedicated server.

Hey Commanders,

I've just found this group after a member of the Google+ E:D community mentioned it. I've been dying to play Online since I joined Beta 3, but have been heartily discouraged by tales of griefing and the constant barrage of hostile threads on the official forums... it's a real shame as it was a fantastic community before launch.

Anyway, I'm an '84. I played on my BBC Model B and as I was only 9 and didn't have the manual for ages (because the tape was copied from one of my dad's friends) I really enjoyed playing but never really understood all of it's complexities. 30 years later I backed the Kickstarter despite any risk just because I felt I owed Braben and Bell for all those fantastic childhood memories. Then I joined the Beta last October and have had problems stopping my jaw dropping ever since!

My career path is... Opportunism. I've done a little bit of everything so far except go exploring in the big black, which I'll do when I have a decent Asp. I enjoy bounty hunting and a little combat, free-trading and the odd rare-run, as well as going on little treks as a galactic tourist.. first trip to Sol I almost ended up being mugged by an NPC for my camera and Hawaiian shirt ;)

Anyway, I'll join the ED group this evening and hopefully enjoy my first venture into coop-space over the weekend. I look forward to bumping into some of you... not literally though, I've read the rules!

Greetings fellow Commanders,
In game I go by CMDR Canadian Bacon and so far have avoided the online side of the game as I've wound up getting destroyed plenty of times just via straight up being a gibbon. Undock from station, get my reverse thrusters toggle button mixed up with my boost button, annnnnnnnnd I'm now a splatter on the side of the control tower. :|

I figure the game might be a skosh more interesting while trying to accumulate some moneys if one was playing with likeminded individuals that aren't out to be a wanker and annoy others, so here I am!

Fly safe, and don't mix up your boost button. ;)

HEY! Just stumbled across this group on the main forums.

YESSS! I found what I'm looking for! I found a game that I've been longing for, for almost ten yrs. Played many but none scratched that itch like this game does. Freelancer was my last Space game I really enjoyed.

ED open play was kinda becoming annoying, players not "playing" the game but players just...well not making it fun. I like immersive play not COD play.

I'm 38 live in Texas, just built up myself a new rig. I play with a HOTAS style setup. Stick is a Logitech 3D Extreme, throttle is from an X52.

Looking forward to playing in this group and Playing the Environment!

Hello everyone,

I've only discovered this group Yesterday, after posting on the elite boards about a DC'ing annoyance of a 'pilot'.

Looking forward to playing amongst like-minded Commanders.

I'm from the UK, Had the original game on my C64 and Frontier on the Amiga :)

Really enjoying the latest incarnation of the game, now if only there was a way to avoid the COD players....... :D
