I wonder if someone can help me with this problem I'm having with SSChanger after a full reinstall of windows 7.

I've downloaded the zip file and copied the .exe to its own folder in the frontier picture folder but everytime I reboot it "forgets" all my settings to where the log file is and load and save folders etc I know its probably something simple but I just cant see it. Can anyone help me out here?

Cheers

btw running version 1.3.2

I'll certainly try Bumble B :D

Is there a reason you want to run it there? Permissions are a real pain and it appears it's best if you run the program from within a directory that you've created in an area that's not one of the system folders (e.g. anything in Documents, Program Files etc). I have a folder that I created in the route of a drive and run it from in there.
The other thing to do is to try running it, set the options and cleanly close the app down. Start it again. Are the settings there then?
The settings should be stored in a standard MS way into a file along the lines of C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SSChanger\SSChanger.exe_Url_<bunchofnumbersnadletters>\1.3.0.2\user.config
Appdata is a hidden folder so you might need to enable visibility of that to check if the file has been created. You can see the centents in a text editor. Is that getting updated?

So I've been having a problem the last few days and finally looked into it. I was getting a Microsoft.net Framework Unhandled exception blah blah blah when I tried starting the program. I could still save shots in the original directory with the original name, but they were not being copied and renamed. I took the opportunity to d/l the latest version and locate it in a new folder in the root directory, but had the same problem.

Then I remembered my Win 10 upgrade. So I ran it as an administrator and everything is fine again.

D'oh!
It's time to give this another go.

Ah yes, the old "run it as admin". I really wish I knew why Win10 in particular is a pain in the bum on this one.

Glad it's working Bumble B. Can you post a listing of the contents of that folder? I'm wondering if there is more I can do on error handling in that space.

With 2.2 we have the Commanders journal capturing events and I've decided it makes more sense to grab the screenshot information from there, so I'll start soon on an update to the ScreenShotChanger to do just that.
Here's an extract from the journal file for a screenshot that I just took

Code: Select all

{ "timestamp":"2016-09-30T12:28:40Z", "event":"Screenshot", "Filename":"\\ED_Pictures\\Screenshot_0129.bmp", "Width":1920, "Height":1080, "System":"Taoshamorio", "Body":"Caryanda Orbital" }

From this I can also make available a paramater for the 'body' that the image was near which is great. Anyone see a reason to get the width or height?

Unless you are writing EXIF data, or want to add LARGE to the 4K shots with ALT-F10, nope.

Oh, can we get one or two more Auto-start slots please? :)

I'll leave it for now then.

I'm nearly ready with the update for the SSC so that it uses the new Journal rather than the netlog to get system names etc. I spent last night on changes as BT have managed to balls up my phone line so no phone line / broadband for the next couple of days (yes maybe up to 5 days of no Internet - can you hear my kids screaming?)

Changes I've made so far
It now looks in the journal file and grabs both the system and 'body' names listed
body and BODY options added to the regular expression type renaming options (%b and %B respectively)
I've removed the options around modifying the netlog and checking/adding verbose logging. I don't need it anymore
I've changed the option screen around running additional applications so that they are listed in tabular form and the required info on them is stored in an xml file. In theory then you can have as many as you like :D

I can't really test it until I can get in game which is dependent on BT, but I'll make it available for any Beta testers as soon as I can.
