Why are there waypoints? Isnt it just to go straight there?

Second question. Never beeded alloys before. How does one get them?
Got a explorer t6 with few tons of cargo. Cheaper

Shazbot! No meta-alloys at Maia!

No black market either, so I can't offload my tobacco!

The in-game route plotter is limited to 1000 light years distance, Jaques is 22000 light years out, so you need some intermediate waypoints.

Yesterday, they were still on sale at Darnielle's Progress, the planetary port in Maia. If they are no longer on sale, you will have to locate intact Barnacles, land next to them, deploy your SRV, scan their spikes, and harvest the ones that have MA. Barnacles can only be found on certain planets, do NOT show up on your ship's scanner, you can only find them with the wave scanner of the SRV, or if you are really, really good, spot them as small bright dots while flying about 1km up. I have done some Barnacle status verification work for Canonn, and I have a hard time finding some of them even though I have the coordinates.

List of all barnacles discovered to date, note that the state information might be reset by today's server maintenance/power play tick:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =223643326

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =889603407

Note the part about the defences, you do not want to tangle with burst laser turrets or a Farragut class battlecruiser in your T6.

Oh, and Witch Head Sector is surrounded by a shell of permit-locked systems, the in-game route plotter does not work reliably in this environment. With a 34 LY jump range, you can just plot your way in from Maia, if you have less then that, life becomes interesting. 18.7 LY jump range looks to be the minimum at the moment.

Thank you comet!

So its equally useful to just plot in the general direction towards it. Any idea how many alloys you can buy at once?

My 24 odd 1000LY waypoints.
Image

I'm already a third(ish) of the way out already.
Waypoint 7(000)
Image
Had to do 3 course calibrations where the waypoint was 50-150LY bit too far,
so did a smaller pre-hop of 100 LY and then went back to next waypoint.

Found 2 ELW's already, and a few Water worlds.. Not really stopping unless something on the System Map grabs my interest.

Roughly takes me an hour per 1000LY / 33-35 jumps / 3-5 refuels
