To me GW2 was a bit better. The whole world was purely PvE. If you wanted PvP you could either go into the Mists or go to their "Arena" mode. The Mists was separated from the rest of the game world, but it could affect the game world in that if your world won by conquering enough territory, all the players would benefit by getting bonuses.

I'm sure this was answered somewhere already but it's not specifically described in original post.

I'm in EU and still am in MOBIUS group, although most of my befriended CMDRs are in US, so...

Both groups should be the absolute exception, otherwise the 2 group solution is no solution for our growth. But joining one and leaving the other is no problem at all. So in your case, just switch.

My hours are all over the place.
I often find myself playing around noon local time or like now when I'm up to almost 5am .
So any group would be wrong half the time ;p

The solution to this is really third party coms like the TS, discord etc.
And if you find you are in separate groups, pick/create one you can all join together.
It takes minutes at most and is completely fluid not counting going back to the menu.

Yes, absolutely. If they aren't currently in the same group as you, just scroll down your friends list until you find them and send them a direct message. Easy Peasy.
