It's unfortunate that we can't keep the group together due to technical limitations, but it is what it is. It is by no means a farewell to those in the "other" group as there are still ways to game up together.

I still really wish they would implement some way to just choose which group you log in to without having to swap which group you are a member of each time... similar to how some "other games" do it, where you choose the server cluster you are logging in to at login and don't occupy a space on said server set until you are connected... Asking for a custom setup is probably a bit much to ask from ED though

It's the member list itself that is the problem, not the number logged in.

well , yeah... but what I mean is, instead of an active member list, it would have been a bit "easier" in my eyes if they instead checked against a list of blacklisted accounts and the group would only have "members" when logged in... The whole thing just doesn't match up with their existing system, though, and the amount of effort to re write it is just too darn much

What if I'm in the US but I run on late timezones? I tend not to be playable until after 11pm PST or so in most cases, or around that time. Does that still stick me in with the US group by default?

You know I love this group Mob, but this is a sad day for me. Splitting up a community that by its very nature wants to fly together. Some play in the morning, some at night. This zone argument is hogwash in my opinion.

I for one have friends I fly with from both UK and USA that I know of.

The Mobius PvE group and forum rocks! But it really should be rocking within an official Open PvE mode from the main menu.

This is tough. I did have one wingmate from California back in the day, but almost all others have been from the UK, or further east and colder, and further north and colder. Just today I winged up with a couple guys from London and Dublin, but that was in the Distant Worlds Kamzel group (obviously not Mobius PVE). I'd bet the majority of people on my friends list are from across the pond.

So I think I want to stay in Mobius. But I don't wing up much, and I've been thinking of going back into open when DW is over. If so, I'd want to join up with an anti-piracy group, and I think they normally fly in large wings, and it may be easier if I was matched with players in the same time zone. Duh - I guess it doesn't make a difference if I'm in open.

I call BS on FD. If they can have an open group with hundreds of thousands, or millions, they should be able to have a private group with more than 20K. I just hope they get their shit together and deliver an open-pve option from the main menu. That would make a huge percentage of their player base very happy.
