If you run out of fuel, head to our website and raise the Rat Signal through the website's built-in (or you own) IRC client.

I used them recently when i ran dry crossing from Maia to decait, they do an excellent job, i hope i dont need them for this trip though, i've got the first 12k ly mapped out so refueling shouldn't be much of a problem.

I don't even bother planning jumps or anything like that.
I just got a simple routine of if I have two jumps left in the tank I find a star.

Replacing the 7A scoop with a 7B scoop increases the refueling time from 0:51 minutes to 0:59 minutes, but saves 69 million (58.65 million with LYR rebate). Good trade-off in my eyes.

One. You mean seconds not minutes ;)

Two. I find the greatest improvement a has over b rated scoops is they scoop a lot cooler.

And lastly it's only credits.
And going exploring scooping is done as much as you are jumping and it's not like you will have anything else out there to spend your money on.
And when you come back you get it all by reselling it.

It's basically free.

Ack. 0:51 minutes -> 0 minutes 51 seconds.

On my trips to Witch Head and back, I did not suffer major heat issues with the 6B (or even 6C?) scoop in my Asp Explorer. The heat levels never rose beyond 60-65%, and that was it. However, I am using an A-rated power plant, which is also supposed to help with the heat management.

Never done any long range exploring, so I wonder if there is some minimum jump distance you should have? I run an Asp X for exploration and missions so it has 64t cargo space, full hardpoints and a 5A shield, but I still have a full tank jump range of 27.75 and a range of 235ly. Is that enough to tag along or should I switch something out? :?

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a mining laser kind of useless without a refinery? And you really want to have collector and prospector limpets, so you need to find room for their controllers as well.

I am currently torn between just cheering this on, ripping one of the AFM out of my exploration Asp Explorer in favour of a cargo rack, converting my Imperial cutter into an explorer build (which would be ironically appropriate as I already used it for the "Jaques Big Jump" CG), or biting the bullet of buying an Anaconda. In the latter two cases, I would carry Fuel Limpets & Controller in addition to meta alloys; got the decal, might just as well do the job.

When mining(not sure if horizon only) asteroids also drop MATERIALS.
That engineers and your ship use(reload afmu, ammo adn so on)
So drill an asteroid until it drops nothing more, check contacts for iron, nickel adn whatnot.
Do try, grab a sidey, slap a couple mining lasers and go exploring.

You only need refinery if you are planning on mining for metals and minerals.
