Despite saying on the Frontier Forums that I was only going to spectate this I changed my mind at the last minute and had a go at the race, but I hadn't realised each participant had to have a "Go" order from a referee and I don't use TeamSpeak so I probably didn't qualify anyway. I just watched the in-game chat for others going, then I followed.
It was still a laugh though. Amazing how much one can screw up perfectly normal activities when the pressure is on. I overshot several landing pads, completely missed Leesti from the itinerary and had to backtrack, and I forgot what commodity I was meant to buy at one point...
One suggestion for similar future events: make it so you're not allowed to do any hull repairs at the space station. I had several prangs that would have left me flying a collander by the end of the trip if I hadn't kept repairing, and it would have made the whole thing a lot more edge-of-the-seat if I'd been forced to carry on flying with the damage.
