I'm still unsure of the way the Titan competition is being handled - initially I thought it could be a cool treasure hunt in the vein of the excellent book, "Ready Player One", though it's probably going to be found by accident and end in a gank-o-rama at the delivery station. With regards the PvP crowd - I remember shortly after the Kickstarter finished, someone on the forums made a prediction that the Guilds from Eve would eventually turn up and try to get the game changed to how they wanted it, ie. Open only fish in a barrel. They would employ 'squeaky wheel' tactics on the forums, present 'problems' and give solutions, have others pose as Solo only players who would be converted through the convincing arguments, all that sort of stuff. I thought, "paranoid bugger, it'll never happen".

For the past few months, looking at the forums, I'm wondering... is paranoia catching?

I totally get that they would love most if not all players to fly in open mode, but from experience, i've seen first hand some of the muppets that fly in there for no other purpose than to ruin others gameplay. Don't get me wrong, when my ship is equipped for pvp and i'm battle capable, i'll hold my own juuuuust fine, but if i'm in a trading ship there is no way at all, i'll fly my cargo in open.. not with nearly 500T on board.

I've ventured into Open precisely 3 times, once in Beta, again after launch and finally after the 1.2 update. In my starter ship, Clean reputation and no cargo, my sight-seeing lasted no longer than 15 minutes. The players who destroyed me on each occasion neither scanned me or initiated communications and I hardly had time to deploy my weapons. Hmmm, not the kind of gameplay I paid £105 to experience... and I don't need a new graphics card that much, so, well, buggrem'

Yea, the first day I bought this game I automatically went for Open. Mistake. Within the first two hours of playing I was griefed-- sorry "my contributions were equalized" by assho-- sorry PvP'ers 6 times. Every single time I was contributing by having 0 cargo, being in a Sidewinder, and my chat didn't seem to work because none of them even spoke a word to me

It must be totally acceptable behaviour judging by some of the responses in the ED forums to any claims of griefing. It's not griefing, you see, it's just being a dick to other players. And that's fun, apparently.

Yea, that's the typical response you get there "It's not griefing, that's just what the game is about! It's the wild west!" ...

It's just hilarious because they talk about PvE'ers having it easy shooting down brain-dead NPCs, but in turn you go to Open with nothing and end up being killed 60 times in your starting Sidewinder by some d-bag in a Clipper or Anaconda 10LY from the starting station lol
