I just received through the postal service my first record set in about 15 years!!!!

OMG it is so awesome! To have to change the album every 30 minutes! Ahhh my misspent youth listening to albums and singles on real vinyl

Dusted off the old record player (technically they other-halfs but whatever!) and started playing. I am no audiophile but the sound is no different from any CD I have owned or MP3 after that. If anything there is no digital artifacting ruining the sound (if some clicks and pops from the little dust that seems to have been attracted to the damn vinyl )

Seriously it is really nice to have to get off of one's bottom to change the side or album. Some how makes me feel more connected to the music playing off of it.

Anyway, just run out of music, have to cross the room to get more, tat-ah for now!

Couldn't agree more.

I don't however have a turntable or any LP's (I'm only 35 and my parents had no interest in music, so nothing to inherit to start a collection with).
But after going pretty much digital for music since the late 90's I am starting to buy more and more discs.
It helps make listening to music THE activity and not just background noise for answering mails and reading the papers or whatever.

No. Sometimes you should put your devices away. Sit your ass down and give the music your full attention.
When I find myself sitting with the streaming services I keep switching tracks and artist since its so easily and my brain drifts.

I'm only 38 That said my parents listen to music and it was passed on to myself and my sister as well. Once we were old enough we got our own hi-fi's to listen on (and often told to turn it down )

Yes, the good old vinyls have a full-blown and even naturally developed (not hyped) revival also here. CD player in the main room doesn't work but old LP player does, and we have a store of those still. And I must say I love it as in the former times, especially having to get up to change the side or the vinyl. Of course not for work, but for those special occasions where you just want to enjoy music ... perfect. And the picture and effect LPs ... ah.
Even the "radio" dramas are in use again.

Sold my lp player and collection some years ago. It still pinches a bit sometimes. But I've got a good cd setup (Denon), and now I'm clinging to my cds like I did my lps. Actually having to place a disc in the player.

And yes, I think the audio quality is way better than any streaming solution can provide. Still. My lps had a warmth that cds just don't. My cds have detail and "space" that my lps never had.

I'm glad lps and cds are still around, and hope streaming and other compressed formats will reach hi-fi standards soon. Many young folks today seriously think they can get great audio when docking their phone. *Sigh*.. But how would they know different...

What I remember most about playing records was laying on the bed reading the lyrics on the album liner. I'd listen to the same side of the record over and over (too lazy to change it) and memorize the songs. These days I can still memorize lyrics, just by hearing them over and over, but I can't name any of the damn the songs!

I still have my Technics SL-Q3 turntable. I had it out last about 10 years ago.

I'm old enough to have had a bunch of albums when I was younger, when they were the only real choice (if you didn't want reel-to-reel). My collection went through LPs -> cassettes -> CDs -> MP3. I even had an 8-track or two in there for some reason I don't remember.

Nostalgia is nice, but I like the fact that I can start playing my music collection and go more than two weeks without having to change sides or hear a repeat song.

I have my iPod plugged into my car stereo on shuffle, listening to it a few days back as one song ended I realised I was waiting for the next song on the album I hadn't put on a turntable in years to follow.

Will we be the last generation to experience this expectation of the next song?
