Laser means bright and long lasting.
Long lasting is good, long lasting is great.
Bright means you can go big.
Big is also good, but it often tends to bring a lot of contrast issues, so blacks will at best look greyish. And that's if you take the effort to completely mask your room with black walls, black floors and black furniture.....
And then there is the resolution.
A whopping 1920x720.
Followed by the mere price tag of only $5000.
The vive just became a great deal for the money huh ?
Personally I would for example rather get one of these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MK39P92/ref ... B00MK39P92
(Ok that's what I call a super cheap projector, you will need 6-7 feet or so distance between it and screen, but it's also just a two speed colour wheel, so if you are susceptible to the rainbow effect this will be a migraine induction device as much as a projector)
And push it a custom resolution of 1920x720, if you must, I would personally just push a full resolution picture, since 720p isn't enough for gaming, certainly not for a game like Elite, I couldn't for example read the horizons HUD elements on my 1080p display so half that? no way.
It's barely legible at 1440p.
Ultra wide gaming is great, but looking at an unsharp fuzzy image is really not.
Especially considering Sony has a REALLY great native 4k projector for $6000...
Or the Epson Ls10000, granted not native 4k, but has the laser based light source.
Ok neither of these are short throw, but if that's your reason to get this, buy a tv instead.
