It's from Jan, but still, all you can do is try it when it comes out. If you get sick, return it.

I know. :) I just thought it was an interesting article. :)
I do believe the barf factor will define vr succes in general though.

Well if we think about it. The buggy is jumping, spinning and rolling in excess of 100kmph.

If you did that in a car. Would you not get terribly sick?

In this game we are pulling insane G's and stomach churning barrel rolls that honestly should have our brains leaking out of our ears.

Honestly all this is telling me is VR and the simulation is working.

Is it working in a positive manner might be a totally different question. .

I too am slightly concerned about this. I have the gear VR and so far nothing there has made me sick. But there was a space walk one where you go EVA that kind of got close to giving me vertigo when I used a controller.
The controller enabled a more complex control scheme and turned off what worked like flight assist, in short it was pretty awesome, especially if you where standing up.
Although I was rather wobbly by the end hehe.

Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

A colleague of mine worked on VR 20 years ago with huge silicon graphics machines. Back then one of the conclusions made was as resolutions improve, so will motion sickness.

VR sickness is the opposite of sea sickness, so instead of looking at a stable horizon while you're swaying on a boat, you're looking at a moving horizon while being stable and it's fluids in the body that are out of sync with your eyes that leads your brain to think you have been poisoned and must throw up.

The key apparently is to get the motion to photon latency below 20ms and AMD are working on it's SDK LiquidVR, with the aim to reduces motion to photon latency to below 10ms.

In the future with next gen GPU's and Liquid VR that is designed to run 1 GPU per eye, combined with a very fast system... maybe this will be the answer, still I will be waiting to see what reviewers have to say, when that time comes at the end of the year.

Indeed. Interested to see what Pascal (general hardware) can pull and at what price as well...

Motion sickness is probably the single greatest thing putting me off VR, I get sick playing FPS, I had to play Skyrim in 3rd person (and the opening cut seen when you are on the cart made me throw up), so I'm not sure if even resolution would sort it for me.

That said, I might be ok if I'm controlling the ship, watching ED (especially things like battles) makes be nauseous, but I'm fine playing it.

I guess I'd need to try it first.

I'm prone to it too, but I'm hoping that if the experience is smooth enough, I can jump onboard. I would love to fly E: D in VR.

I'll just have to take it slow in the buggy. :)

I would like to see the 'barf factor' integrated into all benchmarking. :D
