If anyone is desperate to legalise a machine for the upgrade i have a Win 7 Home Premium COA going spare, i could even post the sticker if required (once i've used a heat gun to remove it from my case).

If it's an OEM COA then it can't be used on another PC - EULA states it's not transferable. Technically possible, legally not, unless you live in Germany.

unless ownership is transferred along with the PC or a qualifying piece of hardware from it. say for example you were doing a core upgrade and sold the COA along with the parts you removed, then installed a new OS with a new COA to replace it.

in this case i could (semi) legally let it go along with the hard drive it was first installed on, even though that drive is now dead as it would be transferred along with the qualifying part i bought it with.

besides, who is worried about legalities? as long as it works that's all that matters ;)

I used it very briefly for the first time this morning and first impressions were good. The interface is much better than 8.1.
In 10 minutes of use there were no errors!

Not quite got the confidence yet to try on my main machine but a good start :D

Most of the people will see a significant boost in game performance, people running SLI/Crossfire will finally use the full power of both GPUs, and laptop gamers will actually be able to use both the integrated and the dedicated GPU to run games giving them even better performance.

Presumably this only applies if the game is written to take advantage of it?

Not necesarilly, the point of Directx is to be an API between system resources\drivers that game developers code to, otherwise they would have to write the game for each hardware configuration possible.
From what I am guessing Dx 12 now just takes all installed gpu's, and serve them all up as a single virtual device via this API that games have already been using for years.

Here's hoping it works :P

I've now finished the upgrade to 10 with only a few minor issues along the way, the edge browser mangled the download of the latest catalyst drivers and setting up was a pain in the neck thanks to my eyefinity settings getting lost in transition, but apart from that everything is looking good.

i tested ED and performance was poor (16 FPS in a CZ) but that was prior to the driver update, going to give it a rest for tonight so i'll report on ED performance tomorrow.

I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday and ever since I can no longer launch Elite Dangerous. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the launcher and game, tried running the launcher in Windows 8 compatibility mode and even tried running the launcher in admin mode, but still no luck.

I am currently on the latest Nvidia drivers (353.62). I opened a ticket with Frontier and am still waiting to hear back. Every other game I have has been running great. I am able to open the launcher and log in, but as soon as I click the play button all I get after a few seconds is the Crash Reporter.

Anyone else running into this issue? Thanks

its not looking favourable to install win10 at the moment, though I want to install it I really don't want to move on from win7 at the moment, but the rest of us its something that we will all have to do eventually.
