Because Microsoft post all their source code...

Just ignore him, you have been polite and have created a fantastic tool that the majority love :)

Edit: Miazan ... he's a nobody ... with a new account. I'm betting he's a smurf. Unless it's an admin telling you to post the source, tell him to go stuff it.

I'm an admin! Can I have the source code? ... But what would I do with it? ... Oh I know, print it out and play all cool and act like I understand it! :D

It's Visual Basic Man... BASIC... C'mon Man, you know BASIC.. "Hello World" and all that. It can't be THAT hard to understand. Hell they used to include BASIC programs for us to type in on the back of Computer Magazines. They were games man! Real Games! This is just a Thingy that takes a pic and renames it and changes the Filename. It's not like its a Game Man.....

Thanks for the confirmation that I'm not being an ass. Or at least, no more of an ass than you lot :D

It's true, the code is pretty basic (hence the name) but I make it far more complicated by having routines that are not as neat and tidy as they should be, calls to subroutines at the wrong time and a total lack of commenting. :D

Hey man,

it's not our fault you're stuck in a small ship, so don't work it out on us :D

On topic: you're right, of course.

Loriath wrote:Here is what you do.

Open a GitHub or similar and post a txt file that says
10 Print "Hello World"
20 goto 10

Then you give the URL of the GitHub and no one will ever look at it. And if they do tell them if they don't trust these it then don't use it. And if they argue, tell them to take a long walk off a short dock, and mute them.

When I run it, my virus scanner doesn't freak out. Good enough for me.

I forced a guy who took a quick review of a hobby website project of mine to reach for hardcore drugs due to the badness of my code (made perfect sense to me).

Apparently it was as if he had looked into the very eyes of the elder gods and nearly lost his will to live..

I haven't showed it to anyone else since and it is now long buried :P

Again it merely confirms I have a very weird brain..

You wrote it at the expense of your own time, and no need to excuse your quirks in the process.
And you have even shared it out of the kindness of your own heart.

Anyone claiming you owe them anything deserve a swift kick to the nuts and a public birching while driven out of town.

Absolutely NOT! If the guy does not trust you enough to use the software then ... err .. don't use it! It's pretty simple. There are tracing utilities out there if he is THAT concerned.

If anything, he should be more scared of the "boobs" at MS.

Anyway, good on you for developing the tool.

i discovered from the modding community a long time ago that many people who pay nothing for something often feel that it (or the developer) owes them something and they get very vocal about how it should conform to their expectations. fk'em
