Black freeking Friday!!

ARGHHHHHH!!!!

I just want it to stop!! I have had a whole week of deleting emails from companies saying black Friday sales are now on (on Tuesday?!) and then on Friday itself I get home to find my inbox filled with 50 emails just on black Friday 'deals'! Some companies even sending two or three emails saying 'sale still going!' 'We're not done yet!'

Now I am getting 'Black Friday' deals on Saturday!!! Seriously I despair for humanity...

Its sad when people do not understand the meaning of words. In this case, I am referring to the word Friday.

Saturday is not Friday. Thursday is not Friday. Only Friday is Friday. Otherwise its a More than Just Friday sale.

I'm fed up of the phrase "Black Friday Weekend", is it a Friday or a weekend? Given that I live somewhere that does not celebrate the American holiday of Thanksgiving anyway, why should I be hounded by the day after it?

Having said that, I don't mind paying less for things I would probably have bought anyway.

Almost bought a new tv.. For $3.4k.

I have been good and saved up a lot of moolah last year but that would pretty much blow most of it, so held off and an hour later they where sold out.
It's back to normal price now at the old even more sticker shocking price of $6500..

If I had that kind of cash I could be looking at other things like the Epson laser projector..

Anyhoo after yesterday's fit of caution I have placed an order for a new 21:9 pc monitor, not in store at the moment but hope I get it before Christmas :p

What monitor did you order? I have the LG 34UC97 and freakin' love it!! The additional width definitely helps with game immersion, and it's also handy when doing regular 'home office' chores with multiple windows open.

One tip, if you're going to run high res use a Display Port cable instead of HDMI. I run E-D at 3440 X 1440 and they say that the HDMI cable format can't handle that much bandwidth. True or not.... I don't know.

Oh absolutely intend to dp, HDMI 2.0 should technically have the bandwidth now but I believe only the nvuda 900 series cards have those and not sure all under suppliers follow that guide line.

I went for the Samsung with va panels it sounds like its not having ghosting problems usually associated with VA panels pluss the contrast and black level goodness.

I should have a dp port free on my gpu already so maybe i can still use my three 24" screens for various other tasks while playing, or maybe just two of them.

As it stands the screens i have are possible seven+ years old and the panels haven't aged well, they are looking quite different in fact and so badly its one of the major reasons I don't play in surround /eyefinity mode but only on just one screen.

I'm not too hyped about the curve but I will be sitting very close and I have two weeks trial period by law (from arrival of the product), and the site I buy from has 45 day no questions asked return policy.

Worst case scenario I loose a couplenof bucks sending it back or I get a great screen.

Mine is curved, but I don't even notice the curve when sitting in front of it. The only time that I really see the curve is when I'm standing over the monitor.

Yeah a couple of things that let me guess this is OK for a PC monitor.
For one I'm sitting really close hopefully no more than a meter.

Games and how they render fov isn't exactly straight and narrow anyways so edges aren't that important.

Anyhoo, black Friday isn't anything really special, there will soon be holiday sales and then new year sales not to mention Easter sales (particularly good for TV's as they are making room for the new models coming at this time)
