The ASP is a great (not so) little ship, hundreds of kills in mine and no losses. There is some eternally pleasurable about seeing a pirate's shields melt away with the beams and then watching it evaporate under the fury of 4 multi-cannons. The game is just fine, this is just the nature of any MMO type game, the developers will always be tweaking the balance. Having played MMOs for years, you get used to the Nerf/Buff rollercoaster. Carrying a shuttle and using it to dock would seem more rational. :) True, but I could imagine a situation where the command module had the functionality of a small fighter, good for say fighting in asteroid fields, but then you dock in the main ship and become a massive battle cruiser for attackin...
