As far as I am aware the station missions are not related to Powerplay at all, but do have a cumulative effect on your rank within the 2 opposing Navies.

I have had maybe 2 or 3 interdictions from "hostile" faction member NPCs in 2 weeks, Nothing I couldn't handle with ease.

What the heck am I going to spend all these credits on?
