I had that too, but I was in a Conda with lots of range, I was also in Hermitage sight seeing the brown dwarf. Selected another system and it worked. I've seen a few commanders, but mostly by the time I get around to typing out a message, they are gone.

It's my biggest fear atm that I might accidentally shoot a fellow player.

So if I so shoot anyone due to too much red mist just blasting away at any red target without checking who it is... sorry!
