There's definitely an easier solution. If a CMDR logs in to the game, any active missions get transmitted to the mission generator and it avoids generating new ones of the same type. A bit like the mechanism for prioritising or avoiding friends or blocked players.
I figured that out of all the forums and social media I'm on, this is the best forum to ask my question. (There's a higher concentration of science fiction nerds here than is normal, and by definition they are all decent on here unlike the "other place".) I've been given a challenge at wor...
Taking MAs to Colonia region. Leaving the ship and its cargo on standby in case we're UA boombed out there again. My alt CMDR will receive a bit of attention once I'm there...

I think that bugs occur on a per-ship basis, so while the turrets may be fixed on a particular ship, that may be no guarantee they are fixed on others.
For example, the huge MCs on my vette don't seem to use up any ammo.
The other thing to bear in mind is the magnitude of your relative velocity (if there is such a thing). If your velocity is increasing at a linear rate such as 1c/s, then your time to target will go down by 50% + 1s in the second it takes to go from 1c to 2c, but in the second it takes to go from 600...

A parabolic route to BP that strays anything more than a few hundred ly from a linear route should net you some undiscovered systems, especially if your parabola is not on the galactic plane.
Remember when you do buy a new ship make sure you have enough credits for insurance.....Upgrade of the ships modules and credits for cargo....NEVER fly without insurance.....It will come back and bite you in the arse...... I wouldn't do it now, because the game is borked, but I've flown without ins...
