Re: Playing 60hz vs 144hz

I play everything with 144 Hz (except VR of course) First of all, I´m over 40, so my reaction time is not measured in milliseconds :D But a monitor running at 60 Hz and one at 144 Hz makes a big and noticable difference for me. Just moving around your mouse or UI elements looks much better at 144 Hz...

Re: NEW VR HEADSET

OK, the first impression is good, but not great. Let´s start with the bad: The screendoor effect is still very clearly visible. It´s slightly better that on the old Vive, but not by much. The headphones are crap and I couldn´t fit them on my ears (but maybe I only have a strange head ;D), but I plan...

Re: NEW VR HEADSET

Yeah I think I'm sold on the card upgrade. Going from rx 480 to the gtx 2080 should bring quite a performance boost. Still working on deciding between the Odyssey+ and the Vive Pro. Found out that they have the exact same panel so... It comes down to, I guess, the tracking via inside out or satelli...

Re: NEW VR HEADSET

If you can wait a week, I can probably give you detailed information. :D
I am currently thinking of upgrading from my "normal" Vive to the Vive Pro.
But my store didn´t have it on stock so I will have to order it...

Re: Whats your history with Elite

Well for me it started with the first Elite on my C64, but back then I guess I wasn´t ready or just too young, so I only played it briefly. On the Amiga, however, I played quite a lot and eventually made it to "Elite" status (probably around 1990 or so) After that, I never played any seque...

Re: 20,000 Ly Hops?

I had the same problem on my first route to Colonia. You can only plot max. 20.000 ly at a time, so anything above that and the computer won´t give you a route. Just pick some random system about halfway there, or just go like 2000 ly in the general direction and then try to plot again when the tota...

How to do Conflict Zones ?

Hello Commanders. Not much going on here in the Mercenary department, so due to a recent experience, I´d like to ask for a few tips on how to do well in Conflict Zones. Because it seems that I don´t really understand how they work... So I´ve done a couple of CZ in my Diamondback Explorer and did rea...

Re: Sci-Fi authors and Astronomy

Hm, so if we assume conventional sensors, working at light speed, then you see the target on your computers with 6.6 second delay. If you fire your lasers, it takes them as much time to reach that target. Let´s round up and say we have a 15 second delay (at 2 mio. km). That´s actually not so far off...

Re: What are you doing (ingame) now?

You won't get much money if you just honk. You should DSS Black Holes, Neuron Stars, ELW, WW, HMC, Ammonias - all kinds of high-pay stuff. Otherwise you'd be disappointed on arrival. Yeah, I did that, but at some point, I just wanted to go home and do something different. Last night, I made it back...

Re: Sci-Fi authors and Astronomy

Hm, I think that depends on the tech level of that particular story. So for example, if they are using conventional weapons like in Battlestar Galactica, 2 million km is nonsense of course. But if we go in the direction of Star Trek with subspace sensors and tachyon weapons and stuff like that, I th...
