Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

I have just begun playing Elite Dangerous a few days ago and I am amazed on the scope of this game. I have been enjoying it but have barely scratched the surface of the game I am sure. I decided to purchase the DLC, Horizons, today and wanted to begin utilizing the engineers. I needed some meta-alloys to get started and so after looking up where to get some I ventured over to the Maia system in order to purchase them. I was coming from the starting area and so decided to collect star charts along the way with my newly purchased detailed surface map scanner. I spent several hours scanning unexplored clusters, stars and planets and then some player practically one shot killed me while attempting a landing on a planet station that sells meta-alloys. I ended up losing over 5 million credits worth of star charts and found out the hard way that playing on open play is a mistake on account of the jerks out there. I don't want to play on solo however and so some forum I was reading suggested this group so here I am. I don't have anything to offer on account of my noobness but I hope to join this group and have some fun learning this game.

Yes those are predators who prey on the weak.
