CMDR Dubayish Reporting In!

Hi everyone,
Just saying 'Hi'.
Delighted to be part of this PvE group. I'm new to E:D (<200 hours) but absolutely loving it - what an extraordinary, deep, rich game! Have been flying mostly in Open because I like to know I'm in an environment with other RW CMDRs, but have been reading with alarm about the 'griefer' attacks you can experience there. I don't mind being shot at (that's not an invitation!) if it's in the context of the game's narrative (space in the 3000s is unlikely to be entirely without risk), but pursuits and kills that are just for the disruption of others' enjoyment are hateful and unacceptable, so glad to be away from them.
I've been a dedicated flight simmer for many, many years and play that as realistically as possible (using real-world procedures and connecting to live ATC through ICAO), so I'm no stranger to controlled gaming environments. I shall pore over the policy documentation and do my best to contribute to the seemingly unrivalled reputation that Mobius has an Elite PvE environment.
Finally, one quick noob question if anyone has a minute: should I still expect to encounter NPCs inthe Mobius group environment?

PS. I notice others have been sharing a bit about their RW selves, so: I am 49, male, and from the UK (SE). I work in the energy industry in HR.
