Cheaper to go direct......

For the whole stick Amazon are about £65 dearer....

Grip about £37 dearer.....

Just ordered a replacement switch from Thrustmaster anyway......

37 Euro including postage......We'll see how that goes......

Still waiting on the bloody switch............

Still looking at Virpil.......Should things go wrong...........

Amazing how the loss of one button is really frustrating in game.......

I could remap....But muscle memory kicks in and fooks things up.....

As a Warthog owner myself it really hurts to see the pictures of it disassembled :D

I also wondered if this button would eventually break as it is the most used button in this game (at least for me).
But, should it ever break, I will come back here and thank you as I think this thread would be very helpful in fixing the thing.

I'll probably have a crack at it later.....

I'll take some more pictures of what I'm doing and post em.........

One thing I can say from reassembling it last time is things can go flaky.......

I'm not sure if it was the connection between the grip and base or the fact I was still using the PC with the grip detached and base still plugged in......

But after it was back together the PC would not recognise it.....I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and took off the grip again and pulled the connection in the base up a bit and that seemed to work.....

Well that's not for the faint hearted.......

Stripped down as before.....

First thing to do is set the wires free by snipping the cable tie.....

► Show Spoiler

Take out the PCB screws and rotate so I can see what I'm dealing with.

3 dabs of hot glue in there that has got to come out.....Not sure if this is standard or I just had a dodgy mounted switch and they put that in there to keep it secure.

I had to cut the lower cable tie as well so I could move the PCB more.....

► Show Spoiler

To get these connectors out was a job and a half due to the size and position with all the wires about......

Finally accomplished by inserting a small precision screwdriver blade in between plug and header and twisting......First one end then the next and gently see-sawing it out.....

► Show Spoiler

To get to the largest blob of glue I had to go behind the PCB.......

► Show Spoiler

To get the glue out I used a small screwdriver and just prised it away from the metal......Taking it well easy as using quite a bit of pressure to lever the glue up, one slip with that pressure and god knows what damage would be done with all the small wires and PCB about....

The switch had 2 retaining lugs that had to be pushed in to get it out....Trouble was one you could not see or get to....

I just freed one side and wiggled and forced it out.......

► Show Spoiler

I then put the new switch in......The switch has a locating ridge so it will only go in one way.....When I got it lined up and pushed it in there was no movement at all in the switch body, it was as snug as a bug, which is why I wonder about the hot glue.....

I then refixed the PCB, making sure not to trap any wires.......

► Show Spoiler

I attached the connectors and just for good measure put a cable tie back.....I did not bother with the lower on as I could see no harm in leaving it off......

I reassembled the stick and CAREFULLY attached it to the base........

Booted up the box and went to devices.....It was there......Went to Game Controller Settings and the new CMS switch works perfectly...Registering every direction, every time.....

Job Done.......

Not the easiest thing to do especially as you're thinking one feck up could mean a whole new grip......

But all is well......
