WidmoVR Soft Cover ... Recommend It!

Postby thebs » Mon Jul 24, 2017 11:58 pm

For those of us with Oculus Rift CV1 units, recommend the Polish WidmoVR Soft Cover. Took a bit to reach here to the US from Poland, but glad I ordered two (2) for my 2nd Rift.

Took me a bit to figure out what was in/up, but this video helped. Seems straight-forward once you get it on the first time, but not initially.

About 6 gaming hours into using them. Other than sometimes getting to my nose, just that added padding seems to bother me every now and then on my bridge, they are definitely well worth it! No face fatigue any more at all! No more sweat or other crap either.

It doesn't take a much to alleviate from the default rift padding.
Rumor has it the upcoming CV1's being shipped without the xbx controller also has a slightly softer padding, but for us this is a non issue.
I use these atm.

just the really early, basic early version without any straps so they just hang loose on the rift.
On the one I actually I had cut the nose part off, otherwise it would honestly squeeze my nose and interfere with my breathing.
But I have also placed an order in for this:

Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

I looked at the VR Cover, and everyone I read recommended the WidmoVR instead. I'm glad I went that route.

As far as I can tell, it's cheap Chinese junk made to order, vs cheap Chinese junk made to order.

Yeah, but WidmoVR's Soft Cover works best from what I've now experienced myself. Allegedly the newer, other options on Amazon are improved.

If and when I can actually find things not just assembled, but fabricated, in the US ... I usually try it. Doesn't mean it will be better, but in virtually every company I've found, it's former employees of some company that was outsourced/off-shored, and still has the know-how. Don't know if that will be the case in another generation though.
