The new Fallout 4 DLC is actually quite good, and I have over 200 mods installed in it, so I definitely have a lot of content to deal with. I'd be playing it right now, except I signed up for the Crab Nebula Expedition next month, and want to get in my FSD upgrades from engineers for that ASAP. Also just kind of missed flying. I'll have a lot of game waiting for me when I get back to Fallout.

But yes, losing $27 million because you got swarmed by Cobras with particle accelerators (at least 5 of them) after being rammed by another Cutter is a bit discouraging. Having it happen more than once is demoralizing. My own damned fault for trying to solo a conflict zone in the vain hope that someone else would show up along the way though.

Yeah, I need to load more mods. Just haven't had the time. I got into a pickle with mods with Skyrim, and it's turned me off to loading them up. So much time sucked up just debugging each time a DLC hits.

My wife may be out-of-town for 10 days late next month, so maybe I should look at that too. The Crab Nebula is only 3,000ly out IIRC, or maybe I'm thinking of another one.

As far as the Engineers and FSD mods, sigh, just so much to keep up with. ;)

Yeah, I'm debating whether or not to go back to playing Fallout 4, but I just have very limited time as it is. My wife's a gamer, but she does like to have a life outside the house (and my work which sucks up enough) too.

At least the CG has other ships. But I got in the top 50% or so, and decided to call it a day.

BTW, I've always had a rule ... 3rd guy shooting at me = bug out, regardless of how many Cell Banks I have left.

I have a rule about bugging out once my shields go down, but I broke it and survived a few times, and got cocky.

I can usually take on 2 ships, unless one or, worse yet, both Anacondas. But when it comes to 3 ships, 2 of them could be Eagles and I'll still bug out. Just not worth chancing it.

Okay, I've signed up. In fact, I'm thinking of taking a different route back after the Crab Nebula ...

I'm just hoping I can get my Python's FSD up to 30ly via the Engineers before I start. I really don't want to do have to do this with an Asp Explorer. And yes, I'm going in armed. ;)

I could see the headline now ... "Over 300 explorers were wiped out due to an unforeseen attack"

"Details of which are still relatively unknown to the few that survived. CMDR TheBS of the Explython was able to take out a few of the attackers, along with fellow, armed explorers, before bugging out and finally losing the swarm of enemies.

'It's like they jumped right in the middle of us,' CMDR TheBS told reporters when he arrived at Maia with the first wave of a few dozen surviving ships. 'Many broke and ran, and the attackers just swarmed all over them. A few of us winged up and broke through. We jumped a few systems before we finally lost them, battling as we needed to, unable to outrun them on boost alone. They had a mass factor over 100, which kept all of us from just jumping out at first sight.'"

Nobody expects the Thargoid inquisition!

Honestly, I'll probably be going armed just because I feel like I'd be betraying my ship to strip it down to the bulkheads for jump range. I really don't expect to use weapons at all, but I may feel safer going back to the bubble at the end. Also, making the trip on a multi-role build carries some bragging rights, in my mind.

There are people signing up for Escort duty with less than 20ly jump range. Just worried that since the Crab requires us to cross a galactic armband, it'll require much more than 20ly in some cases. We'll see.

I haven't even looked at the route yet. I should probably do that soon.

Understand that's "jumping" across one of the galactic armbands, something I haven't done yet myself.

One of the few images (historic supernovae) I found that illustrates this. Just don't know what route may be required if one cannot do 30ly jumps, but only 20ly.
