Interesting sights - My Distant Worlds journey

Thor's Eye Black Hole (love the light bending)

The view from the Waypoint 3, inside the Omega Nebula

One of the 4 undiscovered Earth-like I've found since the beginning of this journey

Image

Yesterday, while making my way from Omega to Eagle Nebula, i found this particularly awesome high metal content planet. I had never seen that much magma on a planet's surface. She was only 9 Ls away from her sun.

2 ringed waterworlds I've discovered

I will update with more interesting sights as our expedition progresses :)

Great pics, love the 'Thor's Eye Black Hole' - if you have it in hi-res I'd love a copy as a desktop background.

Sadly, due to Windows 10 messing with my folder permissions, I do not have the black hole in HighRes, only in the steam screenshot format :(

Problem is fixed now though, so i'll make up for it at another black hole :D

Here are a few more screenshots taken at or near Eagle Nebula, the 4th waypoint. (All the screens from now on will be in high res converted to png, then uploaded on imgur)

A waterworld with the Eagle Nebula and the Pillars of Creation in the background.

Image

The stunning view from Mt.Magellan, the Waypoint 4 of the DWE

Image

A black hole approx. 500 Ly above Eagle Nebula, in the Byeia Eurk FG-Y g4 system. As a result, the galactic plane is much larger and we can have a nice light-bending effect ressembling an accretion disk.

Image

Same location, but with my fat asp, the Lord of Light, in it. Screenshots were taken 950km from the black hole.

Next update coming this weekend, when we hit WP5

Update with some screenshots from around WP05

Just a sunrise from a lava planet's orbit

Image

Having some fun piloting in the rings of a star neighbouring the WP05 system

Image

The sunrise of a class-O star

Image

Preparing for a bit of canyon flying around 200Ly from WP5

Image

The galactic plane shining on a planet's dark side

Image

One of the best views i have seen in game so far, from CL Pismis 13 4, a ringed planet orbiting a ringed star in a class O system. The blue hue offers, imo, a stunning view.

Next update will come next week once we have crossed WP06 and 07

Good day and new update of this thread with screenshots from WP06 to WP09.

First, a nice view from the landing zone at WP6

► Show Spoiler

The first ringed ammonia world I've found, just a bit outside of WP6 Nebula

► Show Spoiler

A ringed "lava planet", I had never seen one before

► Show Spoiler

The stunning view from WP7

► Show Spoiler

A nice view from a moon orbiting a gas giant which is more than 3,100 Earth masses

► Show Spoiler

A flawless ringed water world near WP8

► Show Spoiler

Another lava planet. I so love these ones, can't wait to be able to land on them :P

► Show Spoiler

A ringed gas giant with an unusual color scheme (for me, at least), roughly 2,000 Ly below the galactic plane

► Show Spoiler

A small moon between WP8 and 9 so small you can see the curvature of the horizon

► Show Spoiler

An Earth-like world near the galactic core. As it is my first time here, I must've lost 10-15 minutes contemplating the scenery, in awe. This is why I bought Elite in the first place: to explore and see the galaxy, even if it is in a game.

► Show Spoiler

A ringed ammonia world, near WP9

► Show Spoiler

The black hole inside the deject nebula neighbouring our landing system, WP9.

► Show Spoiler

Same view, with my fat aspx

► Show Spoiler

We're due to hit Sagittarius A* next week, which is one of the goals I had when I bought this game, a month and a half ago. In the end, I'll go far beyond my expectations and go to Beagle Point, and I won't regret a minute of it. Maybe exploration is not the most profitable of all jobs in Elite, but the sights you can behold certainly outweigh that.

Next update soon™
